Could low octane plug help in cold starts?
I am having cold morning start problems draining the weak battery. At the moment I am grounded.
Would I help the engine to start unplugging the low octane plug? I would think that lowers advance ignition. Isn't that what we want to help the motor ignite? What do you think?

Sounds logical but it sound like you just need a battery. Thump the old one on the concrete to knock the sulfate loose if you need to stretch its life.

Thnx.
I have a 990 carbed and am messing around with its jetting, so the battery is new but cheap. I got it to die twice in a week so I don't think it has sulfate. Or is it getting sulfate everytime it dies?

Doesn't the low octane map only differ from the standard map at higher RPM's ?

Ever time it dies you are hurting it and leaving it sit while discharged is really hard on a battery.

I made a jump pack out of two 12v 7ah yuasa jelly cells I got from work....they are about a £10er each. If my bike battery is lazy I just connect for five minutes and she whizzes into life. The low octane advance timing increases with revs, so not sure how advanced it will be at tick over speeds.
