ya i learned it's a pain to run around town looking for a replacement, i have tires and tubes for bikes i don't even own just in case. i can't imagine how bad it is when a tire or tube goes on the road nowhere near a motorcycle shop.
strap a tire and a gas can to the back and the grom seems perfect to explore remote backroads

Meah, I've TOTALLED motorcycles on remote back roads and still made it home OK.

Well, there was the stop at the hospital.

Seems to me a lightweight almost full sized dual sport like the still available Suzuki DR200SE would be a far better choice for exploring remote backroads and trails. That's what I use my XT225 with a 4 gallon aftermarket tank for.

I was glad to see Suzuki bring back the DR200. 3.4 gallon tank should be plenty big considering the gas mileage they get. WE do have a Suzuki dealer in Hilo. Stopped in and got an out the door price on one. $5300!! I think I paid about $3600 for a new leftover 2007 XT225 some years ago on the mainland.

Full MSRP on a new 2013 DR200SE is $4199. According to what I found online, Hawaii sales tax is only around 4%. If that is correct, unless you have some REALLY high title and registration fees, there is a serious scam going on. Did you get a breakdown of what all the charges were?

it's probably the "shipping and set up" fees, aren't all bikes are more expensive compared to the mainland?
1100 over MSRP seems a bit excessive. i bet you could buy one on the mainland and use a 3rd party shipper and still be cheaper.

BASE MSRP◊ $4,199

From the Suzuki website. It doesn't get much clearer than that.

You better hope not. One ride on the Grom and you will turn into wheelie popping, stunt riding, child molesting, crazed hooligan who will be a menace to society.

And here I thought that all scooter riders were model citizens, paragons of virtue, role models for all the other riders out there.

Oh the humanity!!
