Thanks for providing another idea on how to have some fun with the Grom.

Take it to a Goldwing rally and start stunting in the parking lot and shocking a bunch of Goldwing owners

A Big THUMBS UP !

No it is not... gonna get it back OT right now.

So from talking to guys in the UK I am pretty sure I am going to swap out the bars on the Grom ASAP. I already have a set of 1-1/8" Pro Taper style bars that I want to use. Obviously I am going to need an adaptor.

Does anyone have any experience using the 7/8" to 1-1/8" adaptors? They all look pretty much the same to me but I have seen them priced from about $30 to $90. Any body use them and have the bars slip or know of a brand to stay away from?

Thanks

What makes you think you will want to swap the bars? Lower? Wider? Ape hangers?

IMO most 1 1/8ths bars are too and probably feel too wide. i personally would run the xr50 or klx110 bend SE protapers.
i have always ran protaper adapters and had good luck with them

Yes, I'm going to want a slightly lower but wider bar. Guys in the UK have complained that the factory bars are too tall and too narrow and that was my thought just from looking at photos of the Grom. Plus, I have some bars that I want to use because I like the bend.

DO NOT use XR50 or KLX110 bend mini bars on the Grom unless you want to fab up some type of bar end extensions. The Grom is made for adults and the grips/levers are adult size. Mini bikes have shorter grips and levers. If you install mini bars on the Grom, the grips and levers do not fit properly. This is one advantage to having to wait for our bikes. The guys in the UK have already tried some stuff and have passed the word on what works and what doesn't.

the XR50 bend have the same amount of mounting space as the woods hi 1 1/8"s i have on the bandit. i run full size grips and levers along with switch housings on both.

the grom doesn't look to have much clutter. do you know how much space is needed in inches? i can go measure a few bikes in the garage.

bar ends are the hard part about dirt bike bars though, i think ESD/50stunt makes some for protaper bars and i've seen people using factory barends using rubber hoses so it will grip on other bikes with protaper and LSL bars.

Looks like Honda is going to have the Grom on display at Laguna Seca this weekend. If anyone is going, please take some pics and share them.

Better yet, steal the bike and do a few laps around the track. Then post a quick ride report before they haul you off to jail

We rode these Honda minis on the track in the parade lap during the 2010 Moto GP. I'll never forget it.
