Well that sucks. Good South Texas thoughts heading that way for a successful recovery.

Shit like this makes me half-way understand why thieves' hands get chopped off in some cultures.

Thanks to observant eyes,,and facebook postings,,the Eugene Police were alerted to a bike parked on the street that had been left there 3 days.

LADY THAT REPORTED IT SAID SHE SAW A POST ON FACEBOOK, AND WENT TO LOOK AT THE BIKE AGAIN,yep same color/description, THEN CALLED THE COPS!
It was found off Northwest expressway,N.Park street region,, of Eugene.

Thanks to all you folks who posted this on facebook,, it worked!

Tank bag is missing, tank panniers are empty, spare tube bag on front fender is gone,,but the tool kit under the seat is there!

Edit: I am still sorry you lost your tank bag with that KBar.
.... Personal item that mean nothing to those who took it, and a lot to whom it was taken from

This is good news!

Glad to hear, especially since my mom called me today to tell me her new car was stolen from the parking lot of the church. Luckily, the car had Onstar and even though she had not registered with them, they located it and it was recovered.

Good news all around today!

Very good news.

I know that feeling of loss, when you come out and wonder 'where did I park my bike'. Must be the other side lot. Maybe someone moved it. Then reality.

Glad yours came back.

Do you know if it was pushed or ridden away?

lessons learned,

I am very glad that I carry full coverage insurance on all my bikes, and I am gladder that I did not need it for a moto replacement.
Damage and missing gear, I still have to hash out with them.
I have a disc lock, but in the interest of reduced weight, I only carried/used it when going to scary places like PDX, Seattle,Surry,BC, Sacramento or Spokane. hmmm,

Lesson 1,,carry disc lock or cable and use it.

Lesson 2,,lock yer danged steering! how long does it take,,come on,,really?

Lesson 3,,whether you have full coverage or not, keep a record/receipt for every aftermarket bit you add to your bike, good records! And when possible, keep a photo file of those items mounted on the bike that you could share with an Ins. agent/adjuster. proof.

Lesson 4,,make a list of all incidental items that you take for granted and carry in your tank bag, panniers, etc. pocket knife, flashlight, headlamp, compass, epoxy, tire patch kit,,ALL OF IT!,,even the pack of breath mints!
If you do have full coverage, send this last list of incidentals ahead of any need, to your agent or insurance carrier, and let them know that even without receipts for this stuff, you carry it ALL the time on EVERY ride, and if your bike gets caught in a forest fire or goes missing or gets struck by lightning, or falls into the volcano, they need to step up for that stuff too. Here again, you could dump out yer tankbag, and take a photo,, If they know ahead of time what you require/use,,you got that working for you.
That tank bag is worth a hundred bucks or more, but the junk inside is worth the thieves life.
Lesson 0,,you should know this one without being told, standard old time rules where I grew up,,never leave exposed what you can't afford to lose,,
or in the very old days,,never carry more weed than you can eat in a hurry in case you get pulled over.

So,, the heavy ass clunky disc lock goes back on whatever bike I'm riding,(that sucks), and I have to train myself (that sucks) to lock my steering when I am away from the bike. I already don't like humans,(they suck), I REALLY don't like not trusting most of them,(that saddens),,

It's a ride, and you only get one ticket in most cases.
you can make it a roller-coaster ride, a house of horrors,or float through the tunnel of love, we still come to the end of the ride no matter which ride ticket you bought.
"Why are you wasting your lungs with tobacco?!,,don't smoke anything that won't get you high, and try not to swallow sharp things, like thumbtacks,".

Howdy Peterman,

If someone wants your bike, locking the steering and a disk lock on the "front" wheel alone won't stop them, both items are easily defeated by placing a skate board under the front wheel and just rolling your pride and joy away, need I tell you how I came to find this out.

Better than a disc lock......

Wire one side of an extension cord to your bike. No Ground. Plug it in whenever your not on it. If anybody questions your actions just tell them it's one of them new fangled Hybrids and you gotta charge it up to get ya back home.
