Went with the Cruz, and happy with the decision.

No problems at all, there is plenty of room with the valve cover fins, and it only takes a small degree of movement to break the plugs loose.

If they're trashed beyond repair, get on them with a GOOD 8" pipe wrench and get em off there! Get new caps off of ebay, or MikesXS.net or wherever and be sure to PUT OIL ON THE O-RINGS! And don't get crazy when you install the new ones, the o-rings will keep them from backing off

It's like my dear, departed Dad always told me, "Tight's tight, more than that's stupid."

I like a 6 sided stubby socket faced in a lathe to remove the bevel at the bottom.

I didn't say PUT THEM ON with the damn thing, sheesh! If a six point will get it, great. If not, you gotta make it play fair.

I wasn't criticizing your weapons of mass destruction, BUT..
A) the pipe wrench won't fit around it because of the fins, and proximity to other structure.
B) A six point socket MODIFIED to remove the chamfer is a good choice
C) The caps aren't cheap on ebay, because so many have been destroyed by savages
