How to stop auto-subscription

My account seems to be autosubscribing me to each thread I post in. Thus I have to go into my subs and clar out all the threads I've been autosubscribed to that I don't want in my subscriptions.

Damn - I've just been autosubscribed to this thread!

Hi.

Change your profile settings. Click on the clipboard icon (upper right corner). The select "edit options". A third of the way down you'll see "Thread Subscriptions", it probably says "instant email notification". Change it to "do not subscribe" and then select "save changes" at the bottom.

You can also change this the first time you comment on a thread, it's a pull down option on the posting screen (below where you enter text), so you can override your new default of no subscription on a per thread basis if you wish.

Are you wanting to change the default for just future threads you post to, or for all the existing ones also?

For future: presumably your default is "do not subscribe", so you'd do the same as above, except you'd change "do not subscribe" to whatever default you wanted, instant, daily digest or weekly digest.

For existing: If you want to see your existing subscriptions on a per thread basis, you can see that at:

The problem is that if you're not subscribed at all (default = "do not subscribe") threads you've posted to won't be listed. Only way I know of (maybe someone else has an idea) is to find all the threads you've posted at (using the search feature), then edit your post and in the edit window, change your subscription choice (it's a per post option below the edit window), I think if you change the default above, edit will show that as your new default, so you just need to then save.

does anyone know if it's possible to get an email notification if someone sends me a PM? I'm getting thread post email notifications but would love to also get email PM notifications so that our IT guy at work doesn't bust me for 50 instances of the site each day lol
