Throttle Body Sync
Most of the threads are years old. What is recommended now for throttle body sync? The twinmax is available but the Harmonizer doesn't seem to be available. There is also the Carbtune and the home made manometer.I'm looking for suggestions. Is there anything new or is one of the devices I mentioned very good?

FWIW, I'm using the DIY version (clear tube filled with oil) with good results.

Initially I used the homemade manometer but didn't like it because of rapid changes to the columns of liquid with the slightest change in balance. Flow restrictors may have reduced that problem but I didn't like it, and the damn thing was cumbersome to use and store. I now use a TwinMax with great results. Some hamfisted guys gripe about sensitivity and having to change the 9v battery each year but I have no problem with that. I recall seeing something about the harmonizer, which seemed good, but don't know anything else about it. Good luck. Carb stix are an old tried and true tool/method, but I haven't used it.

I have the carbtune... I like it because it's very dampened. It's also a little bigger and easy to see while bent over and adusting the cables while holding the throttle and watching the tach all at the same time... reminds me of playing twister

+1 on the DIY manometer - mine's filled w/ blue 2-stroke oil and I use it every oil change.

+2 use red trans fluid in mine. I found kinking the tube at the bend dampens it just fine for my use.

For two cylinders a TwinMax works fine.
I use a Carbtune now because it does all three or four cylinders at once.

some bikes (rotax/aprilia v-twin for ex) have a map sensor on each TB so you can get it in the ballpark......no tubing necessary!

The Carbtune is fantastic. And you can sync 2, 3, and 4 cylinder bikes.
![]() Your friends will gather around to watch you tear down and tune up all kinds of motorcycles... What sort of conveyance are you synchronizing, anyway?
