In my experience, the old Karoos didn't last very long at all--I got 2000-2500 out of a rear. So I figured I'd wait for a few people to try them out before jumped on. I'm not surprised that they may be wearing fast.

If Metzeler was my sponsor I might take it easy on the tire. I am not sure that is very objective. I will wait for the opinion of a well known tire killer...Slowoldguy.

lol. Y'all know I'm gonna ride as hard as I can on this thing. Did I tell y'all that I averaged 26.2 mpg on last weekend's run? Even I usually get 31 running hard. I was running hot. Supposed to ride with ghostrider tomorrow and he'll be on his new HP2. It won't get any better, that's for sure. That big sunnofabitch is crazy. ;)

I have been following this guy for some time on his utube channel and he use to do 10k km with tkc 80. Now, I'm just wondering how much he will do with these. Most people do 6k km with tkc's. Slowoldguy is pretty though on tires but he's consistent and we all know how much mileage he does with Metzeler and michelin.

Slowoldguy, I'm riding mitas e07 right now and I'm thinking this is the tires you are looking for!

I always figure people can adjust their mileage accordingly. Like if I get 3200-3400 out of an Anakee2 rear and they get 4500, then if I get 1600-2000 out of a TKC80 then they should get 2500-3000.

Dody (ghostrider) has some kind of Mitas on his HP2. I'll find the key left in that bike at some point tomorrow and try them out.

Anyone want to measure center tread depth new and I'll check it against mine? I forgot to measure.

I did a measurement but I'm away from home right now post your pic and measure and I will post new size.

Big stupid ride today. Several hundred miles. 70/30 street. Running 36/38. I am sorry to report this ain't gonna be my tire. You know those cuts thru the center blocks? Mine are smooth. As in no longer present. Not. Good. At all.

Again. My mileage numbers don't mean much to people who ride sanely or on smooth asphalt (so there is no need to post them as I'm not running in a tire killing contest). Or where temps aren't already in the 90's.

[As a side note, I really want to see how that 150 HP KTM 1190R is gonna keep a 150 under it for more than a block and a half in Texas.]

I really think comparisons to other tires are more informative. This will give better mileage than the big block but nowhere near the TKC. This is a very soft tire. The second softest I have run.

TKC is still the dirt king. Less dirt grip and less mileage from these but appreciably better street grip? Not worth it to me. Anakee2 going on while I source out a Mitas e07.

Yeah. But that's the e09. I'm talking e07.

Not good.

As to the blowed up valve cover,

I think that may be a "good will" out of warranty repair. Obviously a manufacturing defect. ;)

This has been a public service announcement from the slowoldguy network. ;)

Hmmm. If I keep this up do y'all think it is possible manufacturers might pay me NOT to use their newly introduced tires? lol

So SOG, what's the tire with the best longevity you've tried on the back? I've read you are fond of the A2 out back and TKC on the front? I'm pretty happy with that combo myself but the front hunts pretty bad when I push it hard on twisty asphalt.

For me the 12 hunts more than the 1150, no matter the tire choice. Yeah. TKC front gets me 2 full A2 or Tourance rears. And I'll get 3 times the wear outta either of those rears compared to this Karoo3. I mean the TKC front I put on at the same time as the K3 looks brand new.

Mileage winner for me is the Tourance followed by the A2. I prefer the A2 in the dirt. Slightly.
