Belt wear vs revs

Just a quick question, and I should know this but..

Does belt wear make the bike rev less or more at any given speed?

A worn belt goes furthur into the pulley, so the front pulley has to turn more for a given distance. Of course this is difficult to see due to the variable ratios, but, will be more noticed at high speed when the front pulley is at it's limit of travel. It will degrade high speed performance. Let the belt get excessively worn and your belt will slip and the RPM's will be really high for your speed.Or you might not move at all.

Shortly before I shredded the belt on my wife's ET4 the Vespa took to hesitating at low speed acceleration. Pulling away from a light it felt as thought the scooter were suffering fuel starvation. The hesitation went away at highway speeds and I ignored it! I suddenly lost power at 60 mph and coasted to the shoulder. I ended up walking home two miles and driving back with the trailer to haul the bike home with shredded kevlar sprouting ignominiously from the engine cover.

When I replaced the belt on my Kymco Super 8, my cruising and top speed went up 3-4 mph. Thicker belt = more speed, up to a point.

It's not how "thick" thats important, it's how wide that makes the difference.

So.. the answer to my questions is more revs at the "last ratio" for
example? I can't be sure if my revs are rising because of that since
I've swapped out so many sets of rollers and slider weights (and
2 different CVTs) that I can't even remember them all.

(Just counted, I tried 2 sets in 1st CVT and 3 sets in 2nd CVT with
4th set in the mail as we speak).

I've got over 10.000 miles on my 1st belt right now, and there was
virtually no wear on it at the last checkup (about 2k miles ago).

I'll order a new one next month, don't wanna end up at the side of
the road, but I'm very curious how long it would last.
