Getting water out of a gas tank in the former Soviet Union
The recent freeze thaw cycle has managed to create enough condensation (combined with cheap gas) to make the bike run like crap. Found a decent product for getting that pesky water to burn...medical alcohol from the local pharmacy! For those of you in the CIS, it was called Medicinus Spiritus and the small container pictured was 30 soms (47 som=1 dollar). Worked great so far!

Yup, been using isopropyl alcohol for 30 years. Marketed here as "gas line anti-freeze"

Everclear works, sold as straight 94% alcohol where I come from. Sure dumped that in gasoline before and Vodka too but that was more for a lark.![]() Also sold in British Columbia but a prescription is required to buy it, I already asked. Also sold as Absolute-200 proof USP, reagent quality for industrial use only. Straight Ethanol and yes you could drink it for medicinal purposes, I have a gallon of that...![]() ![]() Nothing wrong with a little Ethyl.I'd sure drink some of yours for a buck. 100 Mls ???, that's enough to get pretty darn drunk.![]() So funny, now I have to ask my sister in law to bring me some of the Russian stuff back and add to my weird alcohols collection ,she goes over there a couple times a year.

The local guy here calls his product Boat Gas. I makes my head hurt just thinking about it.

![]() Read the Province last week? Bad bar booze in Indonesia? Big difference between Methyl and Ethyl. One may just kill you but they both work well as fuel line antifreeze. If you really want the good stuff, check the BCLDB catalogue and try to get a prescription. May still be in there, haven't looked for a long time no need to.
