Fat Guy in Mongolia

Hello ADVers,

After an exhaustive search that annoyed many a dual sport seller in the DC Metro area, my fate seems to be to buy a moto in Mongolia. I will arrive on 8/28/13. My search did not end with a bike (yet), but I did make a new friend. Also, I learned that I may be able to ride a smaller, lighter bike (I was sure I needed a DR650). Apparently, smaller displacement bikes can handle a 300 lb rider. Who knew? I look forward to sharing my bike(s) with this forum, and pictures and stories from the Mongolian steppes. Please share any experience or insight regarding smaller bikes (70 off/30 on) bikes for a 300 lb. rider.

Thank you and ride safe,

Pete
