Hennessy Ford GT hits 267mph

-----

It's that time of year again! And no, I don't mean Pakistan Day, although that's nice too. Today marks another running of the Texas Mile, the biannual festival of speed in a town just north of Corpus Christi. And wouldn't you know that those crazy bastards at Hennessey Performance went and set themselves another speed record there yet again?

According to the Texas Mile's official Facebook page, a Hennessey Ford GT hit a new record of 267.6 mph this afternoon at the festival in Beeville. That tops the record they set last fall at a speed of 263.3 mph, and blows away the 257.7 mph speed they hit in 2012.

Hopefully, we'll be getting more details, photos and videos of this event soon. It looks to be the same car they ran last year, which had a twin-turbo 5.7-liter V8 running 117 octane racing gas. It's on the quick side, if you know what I mean.

Hats off to Hennessey for another insanely awesome accomplishment.

Enough scratch to buy 267-per & that's the best paint scheme they could come up with?

Who drove-- Ted Nugent?

Yeah.

At first I thought it might be a video game sponsor or something,
but perhaps you are correct and it's just a bad choice.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Great car, great effort, hideous paint job.

Never overestimate the taste of the American public. This belongs in the "Nice cars that people had destroyed with bad taste" thread.

I like it.. really.. Maybe that's because I've been working 'in the business' for the past 44 years.

It could be painted pink with hello kitty on it for all I care, it went 267mph in a mile drag race! even if it was the most feminine car in the world but it would still out man everybody here.

To me, that is ugly as sin till you get close up and see the detail. Then it is pretty cool.
