On one side, it's great to see so many motorcyclists come together for something.
On the other side, it's very destressing that what they came together to do was a huge pain in the ass for countless people. Unfortunately, this is what people will remember about it. Thanks, idiots.

Felon charge awaiting
A man that shut down the 10 freeway in West Covina to propose to his girlfriend could be charged a felony.
The District Attorney is looking at charging Hector Martinez with impeding traffic and conspiracy to commit a crime. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports a group of around 100 motorcyclists blocked traffic on the 10 near Barranca while Martinez proposed to his girlfriend on Sunday afternoon. Family members filmed the stunt from a nearby overpass as he got down on his knee while pink smoke came out of his bike. California Highway Patrol officers were not amused and officials plan to prosecute the incident to the fullest extent of the law. http://totaltrafficla.com/2013/01/30...-charges/29524 I dont think it was a smokebomb, it was tire smoke from a colored tire. Buncha douches, IMHO. Flash mobbing a freeway. |

Dang, and here I thought the "proposal" was "have fun on Ride to Work Day." I'm not so dumb as to think you could commute that way on a daily basis.

Typical cop/prosecutor mentality, charge one person with the crime many committed. LEO's are, generally speaking, a joke. |

I only got to the end of page 2 ... before I felt inspired to add my free comments.
I LIKE IT!!! I'll bet a quarter that these peeps felt some loss of freedoms in some way and were the typical Rabble Rousing Americans that try to keep one more stupid law off the books. The vid never showed that anyone got hurt. The great big RED plume was actually a pretty good thing; drivers in the back would be able to see the cloud of smoke if they were actively driving and looking ahead. Vehicle events happen ALL THE TIME EVERY DAY EVERY HOUR OF THE DAY on California freeways. The methods that the CHP uses to clear a freeway area is done exactly as shown in the video by the motivated bikers. They did not appear to do anything less safe then the CHP does (for the public behind them - obviously the "technical riding" above the block was something you might see at a amusement park stunt show"). I actually did this with six others, in cages, on a CA freeway, I think I-5 southbound when I was ~19 ... Yea, it was silly, but how many times do other drivers fuck with your life due to their inability? Taking traffic matters in my own and buddies hands kinda gave me a sense of poetic justice; and no one was hurt, just slightly delayed by a couple of minutes. With everything else that is currently going on politically, I find it a little surprising that this little event is worth so much attention. ON EDIT:!!!! I just read the last two pages. That so many bikers were will willing to take this small point in time to support one man to PROPOSE ... I LIKE IT MORE!!! ... I have no idea how many minutes I have been forced to watch of "surprise proposals" on the TV ... I guess UTube has to catch up! Sprig screwed with this post 02-02-2013 at 03:22 PM |

And I'm sure nobody on this forum EVER pulled a "chinese fire drill" at a traffic light. I thought it was harmless and kinda cool.

In MY world, the WHOLE point of the drill was to be BACK in the car before the light changed. All of us in the car were just as annoyed with the light as those both in front or behind our car. The only goal was a quick change of driver and passenger configuration. I was told by my parents that they annoyed the local gas stations by only pay for $0.10 (yes 10 CENTS) of gas. At my age I don't get the joke... |
