Cam chain tensioner trick

I had a 450 EXC not long ago. When I got it on start up there was a little cam chain rattle. A local KTM mech told us to take it out, push the plunger back into the body almost all the way(about a penny thickness short) and reinstall. I never herd the rattle again !
I havnt had the 950 ones out so dont know if they are a similar design. Could this work on ours? I only get a rattle at hot start ups.
Cheers

LC8 has hydraulic cct's not mechanical. You didn't state what year your 950 is but the early models can benefit from upgrading the oil pressure regulator and possibly the cct's.

Basically what your KTM mechanic had you do was reset a mechanical cct that was hanging up.

This could well be true. I asked INA, the German company who make the hydraulic CCTs for KTM, and they said that they had changed the spec of the CCTs (made to tighter tolerances).

I'm not 100% sure that this is true, as usually KTM change the part-number when they alter a part, but I don't think the CCT part number has ever changed.
