A he-man scewter with a dual range transmission, 8 forward speeds, auxilary gas tank, knobbies, and a mo-fo rack! This is a real adventure skewter, not one of those Eyetalian girlie scooters!

Just because people on this site own scooters doesn't mean we need a scooter forum. If I owned a Ducati in addition to a GS, I would just expect to go to a Ducati forum to talk about it. Plenty of scooter sites already.
If they really want to push it, I guess scooter talk could go in Road Warriors or Thumpers. |

I do think a scoot forum would be good here. Not because there aren't scooter forums out there--I'm active on enough of them to know--but the experienced ADV riders who also own scoots is an absolutely unique group, at least on this side of the pond. Having to go to the other forums is miserable. I'm tired of:
1. d00d 1 just a ZUMA and it rAwKs my moms lets mE ride it after sKeWl so HOLLA! 2. Will my Geely run on soy milk? 3. I got my Vespa up to 42mph yesterday and I"m concerned about cornering on my whitewalls at that speed. What's this countersteering thing I keep hearing about? 4. OMG I did a total of 13 miles this weekend! Wow! And it almost rained! 5. If U use the front break (sic) U will flip over the bars. I'm ready for: 1. 70cc's and 85mph top end 2. Copper Canyon: The Big Ruckus Ride Report 3. The scooter as gateway drug for spouses that might ride 4. Hepco Beckers on a 2005 Stella? 5. King Dan's Ironbutt ride report: The Big Ruckus Asswart 5000 6. Getting your kids started on 50cc's instead of 600. 7. racing or whatever. Granted, the Brits kick ass on their scoots, and there are a some really cool US forums, but overall it's impossible to find ADVscooterist mindsets--the long distance riding, muddy bikes, the rabid horizon-chasing, the joy of the wrenchin' retard reports, and so on, as more the norm than the exception. We see nothing unusual about 50cc 300 miler on a sunday, taking a Derbi supermotard to Deal's gap, putting a Tomos on an MX track, or seeing if a Ruckus can finish an enduro (or win, in the hands of Javamonkey). Mention that you're interested in all those things in other forums and it's like you just dropped in from Mars. It's like telling one of us to go ride with the I Just Finished the BRC Rebel Club when we announced we just threw some knobbies and NOS on an 86 CM250 in preparation for the Alcan 5000. (Nevermind the fact that I've seriously considered fielding a Ruckus in the A5K) It's like sending us over to MRN because we're on an RT. Blech. The ADV scooters are easily a subset of the ADV crowd, IMHO, and in fact, I think it's something we could be proud of. After all, how many posers have the balls to ride these? None. (nor do they have the skills) I don't see why the marque or displacement should suddenly require that we log off and go elsewhere when it's the same gang, the same fun, the same ideals, the same warped humor. I'm the same person whether I'm on my GS or S9 and ride both just as hard, and from experience the scooters really have a LOT to offer die hard motorcyclists as far as fun goes.
