TRIP ADVICE: New Orleans to Asheville

Leaving from New Orleans at the end of the week for a trip to Asheville, NC. Looking for insight on a route that has minimal interstate time and avoids the smaller state hywys and backroads that are plagued with traffic lights and suburban sprawl. Willing to travel a circuitous path and put on more mileage to achieve this.

I've riden to Asheville before. The tough part is New Orleans to Meridian, MS or SE AL depending of route and then about 100 radius around Atlanta.

I know there are dozens of options. Hoping to find someone out there whose tweaked the specs a bit and found some enjoyable paths to spend the 700+ mile trip on.

Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

I10 west to 75 north. at Chatanooga , go east on 64. when you see mountains, exit to a back road. in other words, ride the slab until some pretty country.

If he takes I10 west from NOLA, he's gonna have a tough time finding 75, and he'll never find Chattanooga.
