i'm holding up the Aussie fireman to my right

Half the folks on this adventure were Australian and several were retired firemen with outstanding humor and good nature as well as an affinity for mischief. We bought dynamite in Bolivia at a market (five sticks with fuse and blasting caps for $4) that was used to blow up tires in the desert.

Done Packing!

I've diligently packed the obligatory 3 pairs of gloves. Now, I've just got to look around and make sure I've not forgot to do anything before we leave in T-3 days...

way to go....

Your bike looks ready and pointed the right direction.

I've packed and filtered and packed again. Now to see if I really need all this stuff.....

three sets of gloves? check.
spare keys? check.
passport? check.

not five....you need an even number of gloves

five gloves is ok but six would be better.......remember you have two hands....

now if you were a grammarian instead of a molecular biologist you would recognize that five modifies pairs and thus means five pairs of gloves

that helps a great deal

I must admit I was confused. I thought you were referring to five fingers and was more than concerned that you grew up counting with a slide rule and then my fear took over and I realized that...well perhaps you can navigate by looking at the STARS! Like before GPS......

I just hope you guys are faster than the last set of slow pokes. Would you believe that it took them 4 days to get off track 1!

PS My mileage calculation may or (may not) have been off by an order of magnitude....you know what they say: Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

Gents, we now have experience

Cool2 Getting closer to being ready...maybe.

So it was a late night in the garage but it was pretty fun. I got the front tire mounted and balanced, rear tire dismounted, fluid in final drive changed....that's another story, and as a bonus I got the extra supports for the pannier racks modified and mounted. So the rear tire should be in when I get home so hopefully I can get that finished up. Not done but getting closer. Saturday night when I let all the stress go from the prep stuff will be great, but Sunday will be a long day as I am sure to be still tired.......but the fun will be just beginning!
