Thinking of buying a Magellan Meridian Color GPS

Borrowed this GPS today and took it for a ride , I think I am hooked.
I want one.
Just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with Meridian Color GPS on thier bike.

I would be fitting it to my KTM640 Adv.

Thanks in advance.

Howdy Boris , thanks for the offer , I would be interested in seeing how you have it mounted.
I borrowed a RAM mount with the GPS , and had it mounted off the bars on todays ride.
This sat the GPS in the middle of the bars , sort of over the fuel filler cap.
In this possy it was nearly impossible to read on the go.
Does yours sit inside the fairing , above the speedo and tacho?
The friend that I borrowed all of this from said that the Magellan units have more up to date track info than the Garmins , so I am going to buy the Magellan , I think.

Hey, I am in, more or less, Hobart , where are you ?
Interested in a ride or two?
Can't seem to get mates who own Transalps and Wee stroms to come riding on the dirt.
Have been having a ball on mine since I bought it a few months ago.

Will probably hit ebay tonight and buy GPS from the USA.

Cheers,
Scott.

I run one on my Husky 450 (hand made vibration isolation mont with a RAM holder), my BMW 1150 Adv (RAM holder bolted to the handlebar) and in the process of making a mount for my KTM 640 Adv. My suggestion, stick with the Meridian Gold or have a look at the screen of the new Explorist range, the Meridian Colour screen is very "ordinary" off road, the colour is basically useless and the Golds monochrome screen is easier to see on the bike. Of course if you have already used a colour off road and are happy with it, by al means go ahead. Check the Aussie forum for posts on GPS issues specific to Australia.

The vibes on the 640 Adv will kill a GPS if you are not careful, I suggest a RAM mount and fabricate a vibration isolation mount of some sort, I will be doing exactly this but am hoping to mount my IPAQ PocketPC as well as the Meridian GPS. I have not seen the TT meridian mount, aside from pics on the website but it does not look as good as the TT Garmin mount.

I'll be more or less in hobbit myself this weekend, but unfortunatly in a car, I'm tied up with the car rally ARC that's on around geeveston, yes behind all those locked gates !!!!
Normally reside up the west tamar region bit far away for us to do a day ride but we'll keep in touch, the wife and i generally like to do at least one southern trip over the summer period (more daylight) as in stay a couple ofdays and have an adventure or two

Regards Mick

Actually going for a ride down Geevston way on Saturday.
Talked my Wee Strom/Transalp friends into hitting the dirt for the day.

Let you know if I am heading up you way at any time , maybe tee up a ride in your neck of the woods.

Cheers,

Scott.
