Non Gay Biycle pants
I've gotten into mountain biking but hate shorts and refuse to wear the tight spandex crap that I see so much, Whats my options besides good old jeans? I saw a set of Alpine Star pants but I would rather spend the $100 on my motorcycle gear http://www.amazon.com/Alpinestars-Mo...+bicycle+pants anyone???

Google baggy mountain bike shorts. I NEED the padding. You may not. I don't know that lycra shorts are gay looking unless you bone up looking at all the other guys in lycra.

Bike shorts are designed to prevent chafing, and have chamois padding for comfort. Sure they look gay. Just stay close to your bike, so people won't think you're a fag on the loose. They work, that's why cyclists wear them.

No, I only ride a bike because it's the only way I can get away with walking around in public in spandex without getting beat up. I just wish they made cycling shorts shorter. I hate the tan line way down there on my thigh.

If you fall a lot, get some shinguards. The key is, if you wear pants not designed for cycling, there are going to be seams that will absolutely shred your inner thighs and ass, and make you want to never ride again. So you have to make some concessions to your fear of looking gay. Just get some cycling specific tights with chamois and some shinguards like the downhill guys wear, and say F You to anyone who makes fun of you. It's their problem, not yours, man.

Find a pair of baggies, I like Pearl Izumi. You will not regret good cycling shorts though. I used to ride a lot and now have backed off. If you dont spend hours in the saddle the cheaper shorts are ok.

I think about the only thing that will work for you are BMX racing pants. They're like lightweight motocross pants. Consider wearing some Lycra cycling shorts underneath the pants in lieu of regular underwear.
