Dickheads are usually incognito, wheelie-boys not so much

....and on rare occasion the twain shall... oh never mind where were we....

right, we'd just veered off the direct route AGAIN to visit one of those state forests I was talking about, this one about 20 years old, young in relative terms (not the forest, the state part, in fact it holds our most elder statesman).

You know we're gettin close now

made it....phew!

My $47.59 part arrived today. Think I will put the repaired one in my spare parts bin and have with me on my ROW trip....

Nice Cynthia. I hadn't realized it before now but Cedar Key has to be one of the few places you can watch the sun rise and set over the same body of water from one spot, whatever that's worth!

Carson a little sad he isn't going to dinner with the troops

Sunrise, worth another look

Wolfie and I gettin a late start, dang, missed the rider's meeting again

makin up some lost time

way, way down upon the Suwannee River

way

think we found some Lost Boys : )

and quite fortuitous too cause this is when we realized the Tiger's wheel bearing (and swingarm) were toast. As you know Dave tried to get parts and repair but eventually had to ride back across the state for his trailer. It was an all day and into the night affair. Some real CADitude there Jim, hope it's all resolved quickly, course you know it just means ya gotta come back and bring Pat too!

Bill, appreciate all the pictures! Jim is not a member here or there but he wanted me to a pass along his gratitude to you and Rich and especially Dave for the rescue.

He has a surprisingly good attitude about the bike so I think once sorted it will be a keeper.

I almost snagged a 2006 DR 650 with very low miles for $2700. You know, just in case! Guess ya need to be just a little quicker with the reply button when a deal like that comes along.

Anyway, great pics!

pmb,

We need info on Jim's bike. Did Triumph take care of Jim? Are they replacing everything? Why did that second bearing go bad? Did the dealer use the wrong part or was it improperly installed?

Please come back and ride with us some more, or better yet we will come to New England and ride with you and Jim.

Dave

The options Jim would be happy with is first a brand new bike, second is all new parts from the swing arm back plus an extended warrantee and a few farkles. He should hear Tuesday which way they want to fix this.

Hey, I'm working on a little four day New Hampshire / Maine GS excursion sometime in July. I will post it up in the near future.

Saturday

Everything went together pretty good, even had a Harley show up.

I waited until the last rider to get out of the starting point and just our luck we got seperated from our group with the bridge.

Started at the atlantic.

Got to Heart Island and I know my way around here pretty good. I found a group that was wandering off the path so I lead them to the exit.

We had all kinds of rides.

There is waybill the dirt road expert!

Had some big bikes too.

and some more.

Hoped over to the south side of Heart Island.

Unique sign. and yes seen some of them there things on the road.

Caught back up to a big group and decided to stop and take some more pictures.

Some nice roads.

Just missed the ferry.

Looks like everyone was having fun.

Even Carson was having fun.

Nice time to relax.

Hey someone left a bag behind. We had to turn around to get Craig's bag.

Wolfgang decided to take the agressive trails with us.

Lunch at the Golden Skillet.

Not much water, but we had fun.

Photo op.

Scenery was nice the whole trip and this was a nice place to take a break.

Waited for my group and others showed up.

This is the first option for 1 point. Yeap we took the option.

Even the paved roads were nice.

Dead end photo op then turn around.

And the Gulf later in the day.

Better late than never!

Been busy this past week and didn't have time to post.

To Bill, Rich, Dave, Mike, & anyone else that made this ride possible... THANKS!

It was a great format as the points sections made you visit places I would have otherwise missed.

I'll definitely be visiting some of those places with the family in the future.

Sorry about the triple digit dusting fast&speedy... the throttle on the XR got stuck on "pinned"!

R1100Stew... glad you came along for the ride on Sunday.

On with the pics... These are Saturday's pics...

Purty East coast shot...

Some chucklehead wanted to see how soft the sand was...

On the way to one of the photo ops... we ran by a huge "cock" and had to take a pic... i think JA wanted to check its oil

He's trying to choke the chicken in this one...

Here's a Tiger taking a pic with another Tiger...

Wankers have to mark their territory, eh...

Lunch at Foxy's... great food, cheap prices, and large portions... $15 for a full slab of ribs!

The house at Foxy's is about 113 years old.

Waiting for the ferry ride...

Finally on the ferry... I haven't been on this ferry in about 12 years. Glad to see it's still running.

Bill... just chillin!

Bridge/creek crossing was nice! Some FF was riding wheelies across that crick.

Had to stop for ice cream and cherry pie a-la-mode at Micanopy.

Trying to figure out where to go next...

Almost cruised passed this photo op. Thanks to John (fast&speedy) for getting us turned around. Really enjoyed checking out the 900yo cypress tree.

About 20 miles away from Cedar Key, fast&speedy says he's on reserve and he may run out of gas. No problem, the XR tanker has plenty of go juice... that is until I hit reserve about 10 miles away. No worries though, we both made it to the Chevron in Cedar Key.

A few miles away...

Structure FAIL! i think it happened after JA farted

Sunday's pics up next.

Sunday pics...

Sunrise...

R1100Stew's rollchart WIN!

I thought we missed this one but luckily we found it!

Really!!!

A few pics of the zoo along the route...

Church photo op...

Sandy 2-track bridge... Steve & Stew were fighting those pigs the whole way.

Really liked this place even if there was a FEE... I'll be back to check this one out with the family.

Clock tower... we waited for a Delorean to come blasting through but it never did!

Never been down the "brick" road until this ride. Pretty neat!

Lots of surfers out on Sunday afternoon when we got to Flagler Pier.

I had a great time. I know FIL was stoked that he drew his own number out of the hat and got the Adventure Jacket! What are the odds?

Total mileage on my GPS was about 570ish. The route had an excellent mix of hard pack dirt, sandy 2-track, paved county roads, & lots of interesting picture opportunities. I wouldn't hesitate to take my Vee on it although you'll have an easier time with a lighter bike. Kudos to Bill, Rich, Dave, Mike, Wolfgang, the sponsors that donated prizes, and other peeps I may have missed for putting on a great event.

Intercoms added a whole new dimension to the ride.
Letting Bill navigate for a while was a hoot too!
He'd get to daydreaming and sight seeing and miss a turn and
we'd have to run him down and get him turned in the right direction.
Good times!
I hope I'm still doing this when I'm 66!!!!!!

Damn skippy! That was definitely a plus. On Saturday 3 of us were linked up on the helmet-coms. A couple of us along the way were wondering how a certain rider on a dr650 could see because of the cloud of dust we were kicking up while going the warp "speed" limit.
