a bit bummed I spent have spent a fair bit of money in the last 12 months on other stuff other wise one of these would be mine.
Am really impressed by what I have seen and would like a part of it too, maybe by this time next year - 2014

My SimpleCopter 2.0 build has begun. HiViz paint, 1400 Kv motors, 3S 2600 Mah Glacier batts, KK2.0 board flashed to 1.5 (has anyone tried the new 1.6 firmware?)

Progress.

I need a JST connector, 3 8045 props and another hour of soldering/setup and this will be ready to go.

Simplecopter maiden flight. The FC needs some tweaking, but flew pretty well. I only had 12" props on hand (spec call for 8045) so that may help some also.

What size motors are you using? 12" props are way too large if spec'd for 8". The 8045s are spec'd for 3S?

1400KV Angels and 3S Glacier 2600 Mah. Ya...I know...way too big..things got warm, but it was just a test flight to check trim and start tweaking the KK setup. I had the 12s on had for a Hexacopter platform build I'm knee deep into.

Some video from last night's gopro trial. Even got the right props on it now. I'm building a Super Simple Gimbal for the cam, but for now I just have an adhesive GoPro mount stuck right to the copter's platform....lots of vibes. Watch in 1080p for the best image.

Huge stink over these things here in KC....someone was flying one over a soccer game last weekend....he has taken photos all over Kansas City and has them on facebook....I don't facebook so I don't know the link sorry. All with permission from the event. Huge story in the paper, on the news tv, and on talk radio over the "drones".

God....just what this hobby does not need.

FPV has been an issue for a few years now. Feds are involved, AMA, you name it. They claim it's about keeping the skies safe, but most think it's about how to tax and regulate a new revenue stream. Most are just ignoring them, flying and having fun.

I'm pretty happy if I can nose-in hover and do a few figure 8s without crashing!

I have a problem with the shadows... there should be more of them, given multiple light sources.
