The son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is reportedly on life support at a South Dakota hospital, the victim of alleged child abuse.

TMZ reported that Peterson's two-year-old son was brutally beaten by his mother's boyfriend in Sioux Falls, S.D., Wednesday evening. Emergency responders found the child unresponsive at the apartment where he lives and rushed him to a local hospital, where doctors found evidence of abuse.

Twenty-seven-year-old Joseph Patterson was arrested and charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant.

The Minnesota City Pages, quoting a family source, says the child isn't expected to survive his injuries and may be taken off life support as early as Friday evening.

"Unless God provides some sort of miracle, he's gone," the source told the City Pages.

TMZ reports that Peterson's son, who suffered severe head injuries, hasn't had any brain activity since Thursday.
Adrian Peterson has always been a class guy and my heart hurts for him.

This is terrible news. What kind of monster can do that to a child so young?

Having a nephew who survived a beating as an infant, I feel incredibly sad for the child's family. I hope AP can maintain himself should this dirtbag get out on bail. Would hats to see an already tragic situation get much worse.

I survived one of these myself when I was 3. Can still find the skull damage. They returned me to the same house where I endured another 11 years of it.

+1 slow, methodical and excruciatingly painful and no one saw a thing.

In my case, my mother became wealthy and I found a loophole in the law allowing me to sue, which is in process. Actually I have already won, now waiting for damage hearings.

Which raises an issue in many states I would like people to consider. While many states have rescinded the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse, they do not extend the same to child physical abuse. For example, in the state I am suing, you have until the age of 21 to seek damages (3 years from reaching adulthood). Nobody told me that when I was released from state care at 18 and most kids will lose all right to damages in the future. If it ever comes up in your state legislatures, this needs to change.

Wow
Terrible situation.

I'm trying to put myself in that situation, what would make someone do such a thing?

Drugs? Mental disease?

Similar to child sex abuse - these types have no value to society - off with their heads.

Well at the very least - this assclown will get his in jail...

He ain't "Father of the Year"

I feel sorry for the kid - absolutely.

I believe the odds of a child dying are greatly increased with there's a unrelated male in the house. We have at least one story a week here in PHX where mom's boyfriend kills mom's kid.

Adrian has something like six other kids. I doubt he spends any time with them either. He may be a great football player but I wouldn't give him Father of the Year anytime soon. It sucks that his kid had to pay the price for his lifestyle.
