Arai XD3 nose piece available?

Arai XD3 nose piece broke out of my helmet, don't ask!

Anyway, the local dealer looks it up and comes back with a vent kit that I think is the top 4 intakes and exhaust air vents, no mention of the front grill. Anyone have a source for this part? Arai direct maybe? Thanks!

Call Arai (610-366-7220) directly, they can send it to you. They are great with that. Took them three days to get that to me.

I assume you are looking for the chin vent? That piece is not user replaceable. You have to send it to a dealer to get it replaced.

Not completely true. I called Arai and they asked whether I'm comfortable replacing it if they send it to me. I should be careful and if I had questions when I have the part, just call them and a tech would walk me through how to get it on properly.

Didn't have to call, it was a bit fiddly but I managed to get it on without breaking it. You have to angle it just right and then with a little love it pops into
place.

Update: Just wanted to say that Arai Support was absolutely excellent. They are friendly, helpful, and customer oriented!

My experience as well. Several different parts that I broke on a couple of different helmets. Each time, Arai customer service was exactly as you describe, "friendly, helpful, and customer oriented!"

The scary thing is that this type of service has become the exception rather than the norm. Few companies these days have the wisdom to see their customer service teams as part of sales - they're ambassadors that make people want to do business with you, rather that search for something better.

That went amazingly well! The parts are on the way and they have a customer for life. Great service and they went thru a bit of trouble to make sure I got the right part. They went out to the warehouse and actually got the piece in hand to be certain! This is my first Arai, and it won't be my last!

Same here. I just wish they'd make a flip front helmet. It's just so much nicer when you're touring on normal roads and wear glasses.

I understand that and I understand the reasoning behind it. But nobody can tell me that this helmet:

To be honest: I have done a few crashes with flip front helmets, some of them not very nice ones, and never had an issue with the fact that it was a flip front. The modern ones are actually pretty damn good.

But I didn't want to derail the thread. I accept Arai's decision to not offer such a helmet, therefore I will continue to buy Shoei helmets for this and, if I can find a fitting Arai, an Arai for my other "needs". I really like my XD3, just not for on-road long distance touring.
