24 Hour Reliability trial - Eudunda SA

One for we Australians. Foreign visitors most welcome, but we can currently say that the Oz dollar is worth more than the US Peso!
Aus holidays are now 'expensive'.

I've got this in my long range planner for July. Still not certain of teh exact dates but I reckon the second weekend - 9th & 10th - would be close to the mark (I'll edit this once I find out).

79th running of the 24 Hour and I'm now a committed fan. This thing is awesome!
And they race sidecars amongst the solos!!

The website still needs updating...

Any other sidecarists heading out?

I have been inspired to attempt a video from the short bit of footage I took in 2010. Sorry about the musak, you can turn it down, or just not watch I suppose.

Still waiting to see if anyone else is planning on getting there?

I got a call (by landline - remember them!) (remember when we just called them 'telephone' and didn't need to differentiate?) from a nearby acquaintance who is indicating we'll be bumping into each other over there.

But I agree, where is the interest? Blokes over here will ride halfway across the country to sit inside a pub or in a paddock around a fire yet, if you show them a spectacular race event where they can still visit the pub or sit around the camp fire, they seem uninterested.

Go figure.

Anyway, it's a free country.

Maybe there is a huge response in the Oz forum?

My plan, as it stands, is to poke along the Murray R,

recording every crossing that I can find. I've already done Tom Groggin

to Albury, so will be starting with the Hume Fwy bridges and then heading west.

Reckon that's a pleasant way to spend a couple of days, rather than churning 1000km in the day.

Yes, I hope it all works out well.
Plan is now for Uncle Gra to come with me (presumably on his Trumpy) and then hook up with LeighSA (presumably on his 1150RT).

Be good to set a time & place for a meet and greet. Introduce outselves over a coffee and then we can continue on our separate ways for the weekend, passing with recognition rather than ??? (sounds sweet - very touchy feely)

Obvious place is at the start, about an hour or so before the kick off?
But, if anyone wants to suggest a specific place?

Not long back from the 2013 event. I found this official video on the event website.

I'll post some photos shortly.
