Harley's in South Africa during WWII

Just before WWII, the US Army and Navy ordered a number of militarized Model U's from Harley. By the time WWII, the US Military had decided that the solo WLA would be a better machine for wartime operations. That would have been the end of the military model U, but the South African military ended up buying a little over 1500 units for their motorcycle forces and these machines saw a lot of action all over Africa.
