Lets talk ADV gloves...
Looking for some gloves for adventure riding...
I currently have motocross gloves from my dirt bike gear bag and leather gloves (plain) from my "cruiser" days... I like the idea of added protection and "features" such as a face shield wiper, etc. I don't want to break the bank, any recommendations? Do you guys value "waterproof" gloves? |

You don't need "Adventure" gloves. Wear what ever is comfortable for the type of riding and time of year.
I use Gauntlets, Insulated Gauntlets, and a couple pair of MX shorties. |

Go retro!
![]() Seriously, though, I don't think there's a better glove (for protection) than Motoport's: http://www.motoport.com/index.php?op...&pid=23&cid=14

Sometimes I wear *gasp* 661 mountain bike gloves on a dual sport ride. Conversely, I may also wear *bigger gasp* Astars moto gloves on my mtb rides.

"Waterproof" gloves? No such thing.

Get some handlebar mitts to fit over your barkbusters. Helps a lot with wind and rain and cold. Cheep. Take them off on hot days.

I have Klim inversion gloves. They are not waterproof. They are lined with gore tex and are wind proof. Good cool weather glove, not a winter glove.

Whatever suits your needs and is comfortable.
I wear Held Calibur gloves. A regular leather glove with some added protection and a visor wiper. After your first rain ride, they shrink to your hand's size http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...ur_gloves.html -Jake

I've had several pairs...being a cyclist I'm a bit of a glove whore.
Olympia Gel Reflector: fit well, not much gel, but fell apart. Not worth the money IMHO. http://shop.olympiagloves.com/710-71...or-710-711.htm Icon 29er: cheap, minimal padding, but very comfortable and breathable. http://www.rideicon.com/products/?productGroupId=66747 Tourmaster Adventure Gel: decent gel padding, but solid leather so not very breathable. Very comfortable. http://tourmaster.com/xcart/product....ctid=277&cat=9 Olympia Easy Rider: no padding, solid leather so not very breathable. Very comfortable. http://shop.olympiagloves.com/103-Easy-Rider-103.htm On longer trips, I'll carry the last three with me. I usually run the Adventure Gels for the extra padding and vibration absorption. The Easy Rider is good for cool mornings with the heated grips on. The 29er is my go-to hot weather glove.

I rock the Motoport Kevlar Racing gloves in the summer for all temps and such.
Personally I think motocross gloves are about as worthwhile as wearing gardening or mountain biking gloves. At even reasonable speeds, I'd think they would shred. if it's going to be cold or get cold, I just put on my regular leather Helimot gloves, or for wet use, I put on the Aerostich lobster claws.
