I gotta say, as much as I'd like to be cuttin' edge... I agree,
it don't really add up...

Good time for a little update.

I am still working at an oil rig near Cotulla, TX. 107 degree heat, dust out the ying yang, and now the flies are taking over. I have been out here for 3 months and only gone into town once for 1.5 hours. Ye-hah!

Anyway ... thought that I had a deal on three adjoining lots in the gated RV park at Brackettville but the guy never got around to writing up any paperwork. Then he hinted that he had a hot prospect on the way with cash in their hot little hands. Well ... got an email a few days ago and that hot prospect evidently wasn't quite so hot and the lots are still on the market.

Long story short, I'll get out of the oil patch and take a look before too long. That development near Brackettville has unsold lots that they have had since the 70's and there are several people advertising RV park lots at prices anything from bargain price to silly high. So if I want to buy something there there should be something available.

In another thread we have been discussing buildings made of ISO storage containers and I mentioned that I am looking at sneaking up on building a workshop. One thought that I had is that this town is pretty tiny and the RV park is on the outskirts; I'll bet the park would frown on a largish garage on their property but there is probably something nearby that would be a perfect location.

So one way or the other we are going to sneak up on a retirement place and waypoint for riders and travelers.

Let's just pray that the oil boom keeps booming and the $$$ keeps coming in.

+1 Good luck with the resale value on a container home. Here in the Northeast, split levels are hard enough to unload. Can you imagine a container home. Even as a cabin in the woods type dwelling, the hit you'd take would be brutal.

.

I don't see this as something that would be resold. More likely handed down to a trust for future riders and adventurers.

The big development is that I have moved to a small ranch near Uvalde, TX. It's not Brackettville but it's nearby. 70 miles from the border, and Uvalde is large enough to support things like a Super WalMart, a decent grocery, and some restaurants and bars.

Stay tuned.
