Interesting choice of bike for the Dempster. I did a little search and found another fellow who did the Dempster on a Harley. Not a bad read.

You may have to strap on a jerrycan depending on the range of your HD.
You do know that to reach Tuk from Inuvik you will either have to charter a plane or boat this time of year. I know it's been done on a m'cycle on more than one occasion in the middle of winter via the ice road up the Mackenzie River.
Have a great trip and keep us posted.

Thanks for the link. I do have a plan and I hope it wil be of enough interest to see how it unfolds or unravels.

Since I didn't include GPS as required equipment for the journey, I had a chance to get lost in this place:

Gotta go, looking for Oregon today.

How convienient to have a tow convention in town...

(Was it a staged drill, or real incident? I don't think they'd let people so close to an actual rolled LP tanker...)

I almost forgot Goombah

An honest to gosh fur trapper & bullshitter:

I'm in Prince George at the Sunset Drycleaners and Laundramat heading for the Cassier. Highway 5 was great: 100 km/hr with rivers, mountains, snow covered peaks, and no place for the KLR & KTM 640 maxed out at 65mph I passed. Also heard a rumor from an Adventure Rider from Illinois who hit a bear in Alberta. Hope you're OK.

Wish I was riding north. You have no problems on that bike. Saw a guy ride a harley all the way up the Haul Road one summer.

If you are going up the Cassier (SP), take the detour to Stewart BC/Hyder AK. Its a stunning little side trip with hanging galciers to the road. Also make sure to stop a place on the Cassier called the Bell 2 lodge, its a heliki lodge in the winter, they have fuel and a great burger.

Take some pictures from Dawson.... lots of eye candy around that town.

Have a safe journey, and fun in Tuk!

Nice - Careful if you stop in at Whitehorse. I was there last year and had a ton of gear stolen from my truck - SOB's also smashed the window to get in and take my GPS - to top it all off this was in the dead of winter. The local mounties were about as useful as a chocolate coffee pot.

Dempster is a great drive BTW - went up to Tuk on the Ice Road in Feb of last year ..... Gotta do that again some day

Jeff

I'm in Whitehorse now at Doc's. The Bike is out back & I will check frequently, thanks.

STOP THE VOTING FOR MCBRIDE

Our new candidate is Smithers. They had the worlds highest women's hockey match played on the ski mountain behind the town. And every business has something supporting HockeyVille including the Harley shop where I got a quick service performed, Great Guys.

Sorry, no pictures today, as this terminal is all locked up. Very inconsiderate.

But, I got Hyderized after going to the top of Salmon Glacier wher I spent an hour completely alone. Then I ate at the bus. Fresh Garlic Halibut, http://www.hyderalaska.com/thebus.html. The city is too poor to buy the web name.

Hope to catch up with the D2D guys on Monday in Fairbanks and upload pictures.
