riding witha dog

I would like to put some kind of dog box in place of my top box and take a dog with me. Is this safe for the dog, so long as i do things right? Is it a stupid idea that should be abandoned? Could I take a 50 pound dog, so long as the box was big enough?

Any ideas, thoughts?

Depends on the dog, a great many years ago I took a friends partner and dog home in the morning after a party, dog was an Australian Kelpie X German Shepherd 'Cain' he must have weighed between 25 and 30 kg.
While riding home,sitting on a 100km/h he casually walked up from behind me, ducked under my arm walked up on the tank had a nice casual look around

watched him enjoy the brisk morning breeze ruffling through his coat and turned around and wandered back to walk past his mistress and check out the view at the rear.
Must be said he was pretty much raised on the bike from puppyhood,he had no problems at all and on the tank I had a carpeted pad that my dog used to ride with me.
Mind you I was never comfortable with the way he moved around so casually.
Fabulous dog, got hit by a train a year or so later,such a waste.
I had Blue Cattle dog x that used to ride on the tank for a few years she was fine but would have only weighed between 6 and 10 kgs.

My dogs ride with me all the time.
There are advantages to a large garage.

I'd feel pretty shitty if my dog got killed because of something running into me or maybe just falling off the bike at speed. Of course, both of them are right at 100lbs., so it's out of the question anyway.

I had a few sidecar rigs that the dog liked riding in. Since I sold them he stays home and mopes... but I think its safer that way for him. I'm still learning everyday and I would hate to make a mistake that he has to pay for.
