Thumb Freeman Offroad Spring Dualsport

All,

We will get more details on the Freeman Offroad Resort website very soon!

Basically, it's a GREAT dualsport day route for all sizes of dualsports including larger adventure bikes with a B loop option for those looking to get a little deeper. This part of the Mark Twain forest is a treasure of rugged forest roads and abandoned logging roads. Hope you like creek crossings!

Come ride Friday AND/OR Saturday -- we'll run the route both days. For those wanting to ride the area 2 or more days, there's plenty to be had!

Very affordable lodging is available in the resort cabins. A nice shower house with his & her sides is also available.

More details to come...

I don't really have any more details than what is listed on the Freeman Off-Road Website.

I think the route will be available via that page for download soon. Personally, I plan to ride, but if the weather looks cold and wet, it will be hard for me to get motivated to drive 10.5 hours round-trip for it.

If anyone else from the Kansas City metro area wants to go, contact me for carpooling opportunities.

Hey Link! How's the weather looking for the rides this Fri & Sat? Did you get much snow over in your part of the forest?

I've got some riders coming from Kansas City for Friday and maybe Saturday.

Well Link laid out a good course. Of course in typical Link fashion he did not pre-ride 100% of it. One section showed as a county road on the map, but it was closed, with a dirt pile and water hole on each end. We road it anyway, and as I told him later we were the first bikes through that part in 20 years. It was all good and even the B (tougher) course was big bike friendly, for the most part, thou a little slick after Thursday night's, and Friday morning's rain. Hope there are more there to ride Saturday, just 6 on Friday. Thanks Link.

I had fun on the ride. It's to bad more people didn't show up for it.

I told Link that he should have the same ride, with a few minor course corrections, this fall. If he does it would be a good one to go to.

Biff? On no...I just thought it would funny to stage that so it would look as if I, TROY WOLF, had actually dumped it. HAHAHAHAHA! Everyone knows that with my monster riding skeelz, that would never happen.

....Steep downhill, very deep gravel, playing with front brake to test my legendary skills.....ooops. Yeah, I locked it up and then panicked instead of simply releasing the brake. Funny thing is, I probably would have been fine if I had not turned the ABS off. I was only going perhaps 7 MPH when I took that gravel nap. It hurt a bit--bruised a rib or 2 (like I ALWAYS do) and bloodied up my right arm through the jacket a tiny bit.

Oh, and I bent my F800GS handlebars slightly. :( I got so used to the bend after a few more hours of riding I think I'll leave until I bend them more.

It just occurred to me that you may have been referring to the KLR in the tree! I think Andy should come tell that story, but his story was the "throttle stuck". Hmmm...seems the only panic reaction would be to pull brakes and clutch, which would eliminate a stuck throttle from running you into a tree.

It was an easy, curved, flat, 90 degree turn on a 2 track deep in the woods. Kendall & I made the turn, but Andy decided he'd rather go straight I guess! We weren't going fast, had plenty of visibility, etc. You should know he was riding without a rear brake because early that day he broke off the rear brake lever.

He REALLY jacked that KLR up! LOTS of stuff broken and bent.

It was a strange accident to me. Then again, I'm known to lock up my front brake in deep gravel for no reason and put her down.
