I won't be leaving til noonish Sat. Figure I'll find the site while y'all are out riding, set up camp, start drinking.

Will bring: Truck, dog, cooler, BBQ, chicken, maybe some beans, a couple gal of water, ice. Anything else?
All the camping info is in this thread, posts 13, 14, and 15. I am afraid we are going to run out of room. We are supposed to have 1 vehicle and 1 tow-able (trailer) per site. We have three trucks going down that I know of. Plus all the bikes. Other sites were available in the campground yesterday and others fill on a first-come first-serve basis.

We are only "allowed" 2 tents per site. Maybe we can get away with more, but if the Forest Service checks (they collect money daily in these campgrounds) and wants the rulls followed, we might have a problem.

I'm not suggesting anyone stay away, but the camping arrangements have been made for those who spoke up and committed early. There might not be any overflow capability by Saturday night. I think we should get there ASAP Saturday morning, secure our sites AND any additional space we think we need. It wouldn't hurt to have an advance party drive down on Friday. I am considering that.

The plan for Sunday is to ride Forest Service Roads that are BMW GS friendly. Think; dirt, dusty, steep grade, maybe a stream crossing.

OK, well I just checked & they're sold out.

So, can we get an accurate head count for those camping so I know wether or not to show? To stay legal with 4 spots we could have 8 tents & 4 cars correct?

Here's what I gather so far:

Campers/Tents:
  1. das Rider
  2. Tony
  3. gentry
  4. Stosh
  5. GS guy
  6. Iain
  7. gremlin
Trucks:
  1. das Rider (w/ trailer)
  2. Tony (w/ trailer)
  3. Iain
Does this sound right? Anyone? Anyone?

If so, sounds like I can grab the last spot? Apologies for not getting in earlier, I was on a lil trip...

Yep. Most of that stuff takes up very little room. I think the fleece jacket takes up the most space, then the extra water. I put tools & tube in a rear-fender-bag bolted onto the XR, but the rest fits into a medium sized day pack.

And, JD, oh yeah, there's always room for the stick-jack!!

More Camping Info:

I called the Local Ranger Station and learned:

a. There is a campground host.
b. One (1) vehicle and one (1) trailer per site for the base fee.
c. There is a $5 charge for extra vehicles. So extra trucks/motorcycles are ok, just pay to park if asked.
d. We can camp up to 6 persons per site in two tents.
e. Motorcycles ridden to the campground count as vehicles.
f. Towed motorcycles do not count as extra vehicles.
g. We can have 4 trucks and trailers and all the towed motorcycles we want at no additional charge.
h. Our sites will be marked RESERVED. Our reservations are good even if we don't show Fri night. Anyone who uses our sites Friday night will be told to move when we arrive.

I don't know how much enforcement there will be, but we should try to keep to the rules to avoid trouble. We are really only going to have a crowd in camp in the evening and morning.

Gentry's last head count in the "Recon Ride" thread is as follows:

CAMPING SATURDAY

gentry Thumper
a16tony Thumper
88NX250 Thumper
das Rider GS
Cascade Thumper Thumper
Gremlin9340 GS
GSguy GS
Stosh23 GS

I made reservations for these 8, your list adds two more; Jonny Drunkurd, and Iain. Which is OK if you double up in a tent, or no one cares if we put up extra tents.

Ant then there is one other rider pnwtransalp rider and I think he is sharing a tent with Iain. If all else fails we can shuve you under riders truck when the park ranger shows up
