I'm thinking it didn't make it to the US 'till '11 though.
The Griso model name does go back further, but it must be the former motor, 4V version.

I'll keep looking.

The Griso name comes from Italian literature. He was a bodyguard.

I think that's pretty cool, and kinda matches the muscle-bike image.

EDIT: 2007 Griso 1100: http://www.motorcycle.com/manufactur...100-66392.html

So the 8V came out in 2009 but I'm still thinking they didn't come here 'till 2011. The '11 had the green paint, then they were black, now black and silver.
If I found a 4V for sale I'd still have to check it out. Rated at just 72hp though, the 8V at 110. That's a BIG difference.

Hmmm...Griso or Monster...need to ride the Griso to confirm. ;)
Griso 8V was available in white, black, or red. There are a few of them around.

The green one is an 8V SE, as is the black/silver one currently available.

The SE was intended to be a special model, but the green 8V SE outsold the standard bike so much that the standard bike was dropped from the lineup.

'09 and '10 were rough years for Guzzi. They over produced bikes in '06 and '07, causing a large inventory of leftovers. Production of new bikes was cut until the backstock could be sold. Production of new bikes was really low in '08 and '09. Started rebounding in '10. We're talking total worldwide production of a few thousand units. Total US imports of a few hundred units in those rough years.

Keep in mind, even now that the economy is recovering and Guzzi has some in-demand models, there are fewer than 1000 units per year being imported into the USA. Worldwide production is still well below 10,000 units.

RonS, I would like to order Spray-Max 2K paint in the color you found, CHEML-8Z, code: EG11330. I've been googling & don't find anything on CHEML-8Z. Is that a brand, or one of PPG's or DuPonts lines?

I just went out to the shop and I've got the spray cans they loaded but not the original can they mixed. I forget what the brand is. Should have included that in my original note. I bought it at a place called KC Auto Paint in Spokane. Give them a call at 509-444-7901 and see if they can tell you who made it. If you have trouble PM me and I'll run down with the cans they loaded and have them find it.

I just called KC Auto Paint, they said the paint mfg is Chemspec, Metalux is the brand/line, and EG11330 is the code.

From Chemspec's website you can lookup the code, it is used on Mercedes 2003-2012, code 6886, "Ireland Green Middle Metallic".

Thanks for the help RonS! I will be ordering this soon in a Spraymax 2k can.

Good luck with it. I found that it flowed very nice with zero over spray and it seems to be holding on quite well.

I could get one of these and paint it green....
My local dealer had one to test awhile ago...I've been putting it off for lack of $$ to buy one. Gotta pay off one of my others.

I'll play along!

Live it with the HB Juniors and just did a tail tidy. Also, dropped the pegs and I'm all set!

I testdrove a green griso 1200 here in Sweden. I have to say that the design is marvelous. I loved the nature of the bike but it was a couple of things that bugged me. Lack of ABS is one of them, the pulsing vibration that I could feel in the handlebars during acceleration was the most irritating thing with this bike and the clutch was a bit hard to pull. It is definitely one of the most beautiful modern bikes there is to buy.

Is it only me that thinks that the vibes is a bit annoying?

The bike is a twin. Twins do those things, but the bike must be set up correctly with the throttles balanced and it usually keeps the vibes to the ones you really want. Checking the motor mount bolts for proper tightness is also key.

The bike is great. My Griso turned me on to Guzzi.

Welp, I hate selling bikes, but I am going to put the Griso up soon. I have a Racetech modified shock with spring for 190 lbs (still fine tuning the compression setting). I also have guzzidiag and can load modified maps. Have 3 good ones, and 2 of them also get 44 - 46 mpg highway running 75 mph. I have two seats (brown one also).

The Griso handles well, but still has some of the sharpness on abrupt bumps.

My wife is selling her 696 and is switching to 2up, so I need a better bike for 2up long distance this year. Just about have her talked into trying the trip to Alaska. Would like to keep the HyperStrada, and get either SuperTenere, FJR, Stelvio, or maybe California 1400.
