We will be starting our TAT trip in late June... Keeping the fingers crossed that the passes will be open.

Ferguson Valley gave you a good one. http://bushducks.com/tripreps/passopen.htm

On main page, click on pass you want to check. There will be a District Ranger phone number there, call it, and you'll get up to date pass information.

Eh? uh ohhhh.......

Don't worry, the above photo is just us learning first aid procedures from Jason, our friend who knows this stuff from working in an ambulance for quite a while.

Spent $100 bucks at REI and still need tourniquets and a couple more cold compresses. IT's one of these things, your might not need but.... if you do....

Thanks Jason, for informing us on heat exhaustion, dehydration, trauma, hypothermia, trauma, broken ankles, wrists and collar bones. Many of the protocols were not as intuitive as I imagined.

MEDS for trip

Went to Doctor today to augment our first aid kit. Wasn't sure he'd write scripts for STRONG pain killers in case we have a broken bone or whatever. I told him what I was up to, he gets this big grin on his face and says " Back in the 70s I rode from Panama to NYC on a Honda 250cc......"
So...
Vicadin....................................Check
Industrial Strength anti Fungal.....Check
Antibiotics................................Check
Anti Diarrhea............................Check
Burn meds...............................Check
and 5 other things I can't remember. So we're one step closer to ready.

pack light!

Have a great time. Don't over pack! Run as light of a kit as you can.

Remember, if you can get gas, you can most likely get other things as well.
Bikes are easy to work on & people are friendly and want to help. Be considerate and don't underestimate western hospitality.

Your fellow riders are your safety net. Relax, have a blast, and don't forget the most important part of the first aid kit.... a flask.

Thanks Tele-Steve! Good to hear that stuff! Solid advice and wisdom. It's getting close now...
