So now we're getting down to it. After a couple or three meaningless warm ups and a strong run out against Queensland Reds, there's only the Waratahs and Brumbies left between the Lions and next Saturday's first test in Brisbane.

Hope we don't get a repeat tomorrow of last time the Lions played the Waratahs!

Although I'd probably want to do that to the little scrote myself.

Explain to me the concept of the name British & Irish Lions. It offends me on a logic basis, it's like saying the New Zealand & Waikato All Blacks.

Geographically, Britain is an archipelago off the western coast of Europe.
This includes Great Britain, the largest land mass, and Ireland, the next largest.
Therefore the word British includes people hailing from all those Islands.

Politically, there is a state called Ireland (The Republic of), but not one called Britain.

Administratively
, it consists of teams from the RFU, SRU, WRU & IRFU.

So logically, this team should either be called the:
  • The British Lions (Geographically/Ethnically)
  • The English, Scots, Welsh & Irish Lions (Administratively)
  • The United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland Lions (Politically)

Seeing a lot of niggly extra curricular stuff in pretty much all the games lately. Maybe its because I grew up playing and watching during the amateur era, but its turning me off.

The Scots, in particular, against the Springboks just seemed to constantly trying to poke, prod and incite.

Honour slowly leaving the game.

And as long as that cunt Farrell is playing or in the Lions, i'm rooting for the Wallabies. Classless fuck.

You may be correct, if a little anally retentive.

Maitland is lucky to be in the 23 and Farrell's lucky to be in Australia but other than that, it's about the best we've got fit and healthy so here's goes ...

Phew! Well played Aussies; always in contention and with a better kicker ...

1:0 Lions. Bring on Melbourne.

He's only just returned from rehab for alcohol related problems and after that experience today, they need to keep an eye on him.
