So, last night I went for a cruise on my long-neglected V-Strom. I got a little way (3-4 miles) and descided that I was freezing, so I turned for home. I made it another mile or two when the thing sputtered and died. I tried several times to re-start it, without success. I started pushing. I tried to re-start it again and it took, but died again as soon as I blipped the throttle. So, I pushed it home, in the dark with the hazards flashing on it. By the time I got her home the battery was dead from all the re-starting and flashing. So, I pulled it and put it on the charger.

Today, I installed the battery and turned the key. Nothing. No fuel pump wining, no needles sweeping across the dash. No horn, no blinkers. Nothing.I pulled the battery out of the KTM and hooked THAT up. More nothing. This bike has sat for a long time (WITH Stabil, but still....) and I expected to have to do "something" to get it to work again. But, the electrical system worked last night. Given that there was NO power going through it, why any thing blow or get fried?

First steps? (I am NOT electrically inclined. At all.)

take a look at your main starter/solenoif fuses. they are located between the battery and the gas tank right when you pull the seat off. then look in the fuse box for burnt fuses.
another reason for no nothing turning on could be a weak electrical connection. look the entire bike over under the tank, underseat rear storage, and fairing for mouse nests.

you may want to dheck the bike over to see what made that happen. you may have a chaffed wire grounding against the frame

yep. Blew a 30amp fuse. Bike still won't run though...
PITA taking all the plastic off to get to the tank/engine. I had full-on sport bikes that came apart easier than this!
