Something great about machinery....

....and people, and even an old dog.

Did you notice the old dog is missing a good part of his tail? I wonder why with all of those unguarded belts flying around...

I wonder how this place can still operate in the People's Republic of Californistan. OSHA has shut down places for way fewer violations than I saw in that film. Good thing they haven't noticed yet. Utter coolness!

I noticed the dog's tail, too, and wondered that same thing.

Having been responsible for OSHA compliance I thought about that, too. I wonder if it being a historical site gets it any sort of exception.

Yeah, an OSHA inspector would have a heart attack, a nervous breakdown, and an apoplectic fit all at the same time!

Perhaps it is its own sort of statement about a time when people actually could take responsibility for their own actions. I don't need a lawnmower that stops the engine when I take my hands off the handle. I know not to put my fingers under the mower when it runs.

Very cool, thanks for sharing! Business doesn't get any more sustainable than that - keep everything oiled up and that joint should be running independently for another 116 years.

I would like to see a current inspection sticker for that boiler though...
