Today's craigslist finds......

Were all RxxxxS bikes boxer cup prep bikes? I had always thought that the prep bikes all had the boxer cup paint colors on them.
But these days it seems that anyone who is connected with the S bikes are all claiming that their bike is a prep bikes.
I have a co-worker with a standard gray one. He claims that it is a prep bike.

Don't know what it is about the R1100S, but it's probably the best looking bike BMW ever produced. MUST have, but not at this very moment. I'd like to replace my K75 with that one.

There was the Boxer Cup that was white/blue/red with Randy Mamola autograph....that was the more well known one.

The BCX (Boxer Cup Prep) had no ABS, just excellent Evo brakes with no linking, no servo-assist, no nuttin'.

No heated grips or touring niceties, though I did put bags on mine and toured a LOT on it.

Longer Showa sport suspension, with a longer torque arm. Wider rear wheel.
Bars mounted under the top clamp, steering damper...

Might be more differences, been a while and I've forgotten much about the bike. The "regular" R1100S sold for $13,679 or something and the BCX was $11,299 I think.

I put 27,000 miles on it in exactly a year - two days later I totalled it and spent a month of quality time at Craig Rehab with a busted T12 and a serious bonk on the head.
That's why pfb got the KTM 520.... I wasn't sure I'd be riding offroad again.

I ran across this bike out in Divide today. I don't think it's listed anywhere. It's parked on the side of hwy 24. It's a rough rat-bike styled hack. The engine starts and sounds good, but the owner says it needs a new clutch because it shifts rough. I did not test ride it. I think the bike has minimal value, but the side car looks nice with the exception of the welding job to connect it to the bike. The bike is titled. If anyone is interested in this, PM me and I can provide more info.

I had the pleasure of putting some miles on one of these when it was only a few years old. Awesome sound and easily ran away from the Brit bikes. Do I remember correctly that it was a BSA copy?

Yes. Kawasaki acquired Meguro, which built the original K1 (that became the W1) based on the BSA A7. That bike was on craigslist not too long ago I think.

His price is on the high side in this soft market. The bars and exhaust are not stock and this bike really should have a stock exhaust to get that wonderful sound. That would be expensive. If you're going to end up putting a few thousand into it why would you want to pay more than 1500.00, and a 1,000 would be even better.
If I wasn't currently restoring my 66 Volvo I'd be talking to him because this could be a nice project. You may remember that this was one of the bikes the Japanese used to specifically target Brit bikes when they were fighting for market share. The bike was a nice blend of Brit funky and Jap engineering.

Then they re-introduced it in 2000 to capatilize on the retro fad. Nice bikes as well, and have always had an eye out for a 2000 - 2002

I paid $450 for a 1975 with 1009 original miles off of Craiglist a few months ago. Had to clean the carb and tank as well as replace from light and rear bulb.
