We used to ride out of wilhoit over to the hassayampa. Been a long while but have you ever seen that beat up yellow subaru brat out in the back country?

Really do not remember a yellow Subaru brat...

However I do remember traveling on, what I considered, a somewhat difficult 2-track one day. Was taking a break under a shady Mesquite and having a young man in a older model Ford LTD come bouncing to a stop to ask me for directions. He had missed the turn to the Williams Ranch (a very difficult trip in a sedan) and knew he was somewhat lost and quite glad to see me. Told me he had ripped a sidewall an hour earlier and was now without a spare, had plenty of water and some snacks. I pointed him in the right direction even made him a map with each turn. Showed him a couple of hills where he could get phone reception and wished him luck.

Ya never know what you may see roaming the hills in my "back-yard"

Another time.... Here we go again! Are you getting tired of these Li'l reports yet?

Summer is upon us here in the Great Southwestern Deserts! Usually leaving about 6am, temp in the high 60s and before my return before 10am it hits mid 90s.

Eagle Eye Mountain, near Aguila, view from the South. See the opening in the mountain along side the Saguaro. (tried to hide the powerline towers behind the cactus, did not work) !

Little closer view, that XR4 is a pic/bitch always in the way...

See... XR4 in the pic again

A cool drink in the shade of an Iron Wood tree... before heading home!

Haul'n Ass home as the temps are a rise'n. Not an easy shot with a hand-held camera, took about a dozen shots this is the only one that is useable.

Hope ya enjoyed the trip.

Another time...

Took a quick early morning venture back to the farming community of Aguila. Only out about 2.5 hours as it was to be a warm 108 degrees. A good day to stay "shaded-up".

Arizona's other "Gold", Water & Agriculture! Irrigation ditch & bee hives surrounded by Melon fields.

Thought the angles of this Cotton field were unique...

Got into an area that was posted "Organic"
Two, 3 row planters running together and a man walking behind each row watching. I was the only one of the group that spoke English, so no conversing. I'm guessing they were planting melon seeds of some sort.
I was involved with farming in the Midwest my entire childhood through high school + a couple more years. I always find any kind of agricultural production interesting.

Another time...

Took another early AM trip to the South... Vulture Mine road into the Belmont Mountain range and on to the very exciting settlement of Tonopah! A bit more pavement riding than I like, 110 miles only 39 in the dirt, but it was the fastest way to get back to my 'cool shop'.

Belmont Mountains, destination was on the other side...

The few clouds were welcome as they delayed the heat

Belmont Mine remains...

Guessing this was some sort of water tank, approximately 12' deep. At this point I'm on the South side of Belmont Mountains.

Bridge across the C.A.P. canal. Colorado river water head'n towards "The Valley of The Sun".

A few cows at the Tonopah Dairy. Yes it did have an odor! However I'm sure it smell's like $$$ to the dairy people.

Made a stop at the Shell station in Tonopah and had a cool drink in the shade then road'd back to the Casa.

Hope you enjoyed another backyard trek.

Great ride reports and pictures. Funny a lot of those sites look very familiar!!!
Unfortunately it is getting a bit "warm" to do long rides now.

Another time...
A quick trip out to the farms... Harvesting "Chickpea's" otherwise known a Garbanzo Beans. These are the black variety, primarily used for protein in feed.

Sitt'n in the shade watching the activities...

Good example of the size of this little machine... dumping into a 40' grain trailer! I'm guessing a 30' floating grain-head.

Also ran across these three Li'l Javelina...

... and a Pig clicking his teeth! He must be one of those pig's that is not a Honda fan!

Hope you enjoyed another li'l backyard Trek...

Cool report. FYI the big farm in Aguila is a John Deere test site. You can see stuff not yet available to the public if you have good eyes and know what to look for.

Subscribed! Keep them coming. I do some riding in that area on my DRZ. Getting a bit warm now, so I want to try to hit crown king, Prescott, or maybe a flag trip soon.

Yes I know some of the engineers there...
However they are sworn to secrecy! Would really like to visit their Shop sometime... but Off Limits to us "Farm Boys". Do see some of the test equipment occasionally but hard to identify.
Not long ago there were three Lear Jets at the Wickenburg Airport for about a week. Thought they were guests at one of the Guest Ranches but understand they were some Big-Shots from John Deere. Checking out a new line of tractors!
