That's exactly why I'd swap my screaming 98hp engine for the Gladys 72hp
engine.

Well in that case why don't you just get an S1000RR or a zx10r and cut out all the baby steps.

Yes, the engine was redone, agreed. But styling-wise I wouldn't touch one with a 10-foot pole, either the SV650S (which is essentially unchanged since 2003 or so) or the Gladys. And the marketing campaign for the Gladys was a monumnetal own-goal for Suzuki.

So by disgrace, I mean the whole way that vtwin has been treated/used by it's masters, not in relation to bhp.

I've never pain any attention to the Gladius & didn't even realize there was a marketing campaign for it. What exactly was the angle Suzuki was pushing in order to convince the buyer it was better than the cult classic SV 650?

It's one of those "You had to be there." moments.
Maybe there's videos available on YT..

Brief long term review from motorcycle news, UK...

Didn't see any factory sponsored videos. I do remember reading in magazines that the Gladius was touted as being better, with mixed reviews.

Finally brought mine home today. Only put 35 miles on it riding home from the dealership and all I can say is WOW! Handling is crisp and the power is all over the range. I am really digging the output of this engine. Bike feels super light too but I am coming off a Road King so anything would probably feel light compared to that. Tranny shifts were smooth as well.

My shoulder is still healing from surgery last week, so I was taking it easy. Rode most of the way in "Standard" mode but did swap over to "A" mode at the first red light when I got off the interstate. DAMN! Pretty challenging to keep the front wheel on the ground in the first three gears. From my short ride, I think Yamaha has hit a home run with this thing. Can't wait to put some miles on it.

I had heaps of fun taking the piss on that one. Very entertaining.

Very "Good feeling"

For all the wrong reasons.

I was in "Hi mode" there for a while. I almost went out and bought some sparkly silver pants.
