I wasn't familiar with the 919 and found this article. It's 40 lbs heavier and a bit less HP, but appears to be a great bike and good find.

That's the most ridiculous statement I've read on here in a long time. Seriously, what was the last bike that Yamaha made that in it's first year was full of mistakes and recalls.

Beta testers

I bet a combined million miles or more has been put on the FZ-09 before final production started. Sure, there'll be some gremlins...but that's expected.this is not Yamahas first time with a new bike, or even a first for a triple from Y...it'll be good!

Last two bikes I had (and still have) were both first production year, no problems. I agree, they can't afford not to get the bugs out before a production run.

I hadn't noticed at first, but the orange bike has a sort of gray frame, as opposed to the black on the other two.

Buying a new-model Yamaha doesn't guarantee that there will be no problems. But it's pretty well understood in the industry that they are extremely thorough during testing and development. And its not unusual that by the time the public hears the first rumor of a new Yamaha, it has been tested\developed for 3 years.

They don't rush to market.

Odds are that the new owners of this fresh triple are getting a great bike for a killer price.

Besides, 4 years of YES warranty is crazy affordable. :)

Can't wait to trade my 2007 FZ1 on the 9. Just saying. It will be nice not to wind it out to get a little torque.

Wouldn't worry about recalls.Yamaha doesn't have that issue.

Oh did I mention its 73 pounds lighter. Was looking at a Triumph 800XC, no more.

Insurance cost for the 09?

Anyone that has bought or serious about getting a FZ09 care to comment on insurance cost for it?

Seen on a FZ09-specific site that people are seeing a higher than anticipated insurance cost.

Then it becomes one of the most beautiful bikes made in the last decade. Not IMO, fact.
Just razzin ya man! I really like em. I've heard it's like Honda making a Ducati.

That FZ-9 is what $8k? Isn't the bike formerly known as the Gladius $8k? is Suzuki on crack?!

Yamaha's own FZ6R is also 8k. The Kawasaki 650R is only a couple hundred behind that.

Will be interesting to see where the follow-up triples come in, price-wise.
