Thoughts on an '03 Sherco 2.9

I have an opportunity for one but don't have any experience with them. Give the good, the bad, & any uglies.

Very neutral feeling. Light and agile. Just riding around you do not notice any strong points. It just does everything OK and that is all you need. They had some main bearing issues, so if the motor is loud beware.

One of my all time favs, super reliable, If there was any main brg prob,, it would have been fixed by now,
These are great all around bikes, And RYP Ryan Young products has what I feel the best support as far as super fast parts, and everything is in stock,
I have had 2 03 models, and would say it has always been one of the ( No Pun ) Rock solid scoots !!!!

Looks like it's mine. Details & pics later.

Anyone interested in a '93 Aprilia 280R Climber with a spare parts bike? I'll make a smokin' deal. It'll be up in the trials flea market sometime next week, so get a jump on the masses.

PLEASE don't make it too cheap, I have enough projects as is without adding an Italian on to them! (doesn't help to have a soft spot for Aprilias either.... )

Heh... I was thinking the opposite. I could use a buddy bike and will be in JAX sometime in the next few weeks...

I had an '04 sherco 290 and LOVED it.

Fantastic bike for a beginner if you just lug it around at idle and don't wind it up (until you are ready) or you will be on your ass.

TOUGH AS NAILS!!!

Thanks & funny at the same time.

I'm not a beginner, unless we go back thirty plus years. My last competition was the STRA Master class in the late seventies. Now it's just a matter of finding myself within the new classifications & rules.

To be clear, I'm not kidding myself. At 55, I'm pretty much starting over, albeit some fifty libs later. But I still have some sense of balance.

Well the 15 year olds in the NOVICE class await your challenge!

Ok I was being "silly" but I still say I rode in Expert class up until about 84, today my novice rides that stuff for practice... Just sayin.

you will wonder why you quit, except you making it to master, might mean you were so good, you got bored with it. I never got there.

If I were you unless you think it/you will fail miseralby at mastering this again, buy a NEW or near new bike. not saying the older softer bike might let you get used to the new bikes, it takes just as long to master the new bikes, you obviously have the talent!

Love the pic, Slow races on a FLHTCUI is fun too...

That's what I'm afraid of.

I didn't quit because I was bored, but because I got old enough (18) that my parents decided it was time to sponsor myself. One trip to Atlanta learnt me real quick how much a weekend cost. And that, as they say, was that.

I love the idea of a new bike, but it just doesn't fit into the budget right now. Funny thing, The Wife is telling me the same thing my parents did all those years ago...
