Will a 2001 Tiger 955 tank work on a 2006...?

Anyone know why I couldn't swap the fuel tank assemblies between the two tanks so I can use the 2001 tank on the 2006? Looks as though the plates and bolt patterns are the same. I've got a 2006 with bubbled decals and a pristine 2001 tank I'd like to replace it with. Thanks...

Tank swap

I had a 2002 Tiger, and now have a 2006. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the tanks can be swapped - just change out the fuel pump plate. I don't recall any differences between the two, and I've removed them repeatedly (Can't stop farkling)Check with Triumph or Bike Bandit and see if the mounting gasket for both years is the same part number. I bet it is.

Your right, cj. Bike Bandit lists the same # for the pump assembly gasket. Thanks...

I HATE the bubbling decals.

Wonder if you're going to run into the same problem with the earlier tank? I'm trying to decide whether or not to have the stripes painted on my tank, do away with the stripes altogether or just live with the bubbles....
