Dixie Landing Cafe...

From my 650-mile Canoe trip last year. Everybody we met told us it was the best food on the river, but we got there on a Thursday and they were closed. Planning to make a two-wheeled return trip to see if it's as good as I was told.

Post your verdict when you make it back...might try it ourselves when we make it back to the general area...

No pics at this time but the "Chicken Shack" in Luverne is a good place to dine...

Best Catfish I have eaten out, and good view of the river.

The Brick in Decatur.

They make some of the best sandwiches not to mention a pretty good selection of brew. Let me know if you are in the area, I will buy you one.

The Rattlesnake Saloon. Built in a cave/clif shelter. Its out the other side of Russleville.

OK the food is only so so. But it is a great ride to get there and a really cool place.

For me it doesn't get any better than this when eating on the road.

Coca-Cola, sardines, crackers, hoop cheese and a moon pie.

But in keeping with the spirit of the Thread here goes:

The Garage Café - 10th Terrace So Birmingham

If your down around Selma don't miss a chance to stop in Lanne's BBQ Spot - Minter Ave

Southland Restaurant - Jackson Hwy Sheffield

Just ask Fatdog, it doesn't get anymore real than the Gainesville Kitchen in Gainesville of course.

Not Alabama but Indian Pass Raw Bar on Florida's Forgotten Coast

Last but not least and I can't speak from personal experience but imagine they have some of the best buns around considering all the yeast. Hwy 78 Dora.

A little place I run across a few weeks back while on business over in Florence. This is across the river in Sheffield, AL. Grilled oysters were awesome.

Hey Mitch, you ought to see Cajun's on an "all you can eat" Saturday night. Next time business brings you a little further south give me a holler.
