4:35 video ride report - on the new Versys

So, I had to try out my new bike, GoPro, movie editing, and embedding videos.

This was a quick afternoon ride to get to know the bike. Some gravel, curves, and freeways. I like the Versys a lot! Different than my other bikes. Not better or worse, just different.

Cool video. I'm thinking about buying a Versys. Can you point out the negatives and positives about the bike? Thanks

Positives and Negatives

Some people have done a better job at it than I (video and bike review), but I googled "FJR for Versys" and stuff like that while I was researching it. However, from a guy who has ridden a bunch of different bikes, but is still just an average rider, I can give you my top ten humble opinions...

1. Wind protection is obviously worse when coming from an FJR.
2. Less power than the FJR (also obvious), but still very useable and the power band only drops off toward the higher rpms.
3. Had I seen "pavement ends" on my FJR, I would've made a u-turn. On the Versys, I just cruised on to see where the road went... and I'm a crappy dirt rider.
4. The shorter wheelbase makes it FUN to ride in the twisties. The FJR was fun for eating up miles, but I didn't enjoy every mile like I am on the Versys. I seem more engaged when riding the Versys than I did riding the FJR.
5. The seating position is quite comfortable and upright.
6. There's a bit more vibration than the FJR.
7. I have an aftermarket seat so I can't give you an honest opinion of the stocker, but I heard they suck like all other stock seats.
8. Mirrors vibrate pretty bad.
9. Didn't need earplugs on the FJR with a Calsci XL windscreen. Need them on the versys. I'm pretty deaf from blowing out an ear drum, two decades of riding, and flying planes, so don't put much stock in this comment.
10. There has yet to be any buyer's remorse, so that means for the versys.

Nice video, GSer. It looks like you were up in the Spenceville area. I did the same thing on my Falco; definitely NOT the kind of bike for washboarded gravel roads!

Sounds like I might need to take a look at a Versys! Thanks!

Yes I was. I think the sweet spot for the washboard portions was around 40 mph.
