Twillingate >>> Corner Brock...

On our way down to the ferry at Port aux Basques, NL., we decided to stop for another overnight stay at a camp in Corner Brook... then lo and behold, one more lobsta samwich, just one more...

Oh, 10x better than McLobster...

There's a strip of about a few km on the TransCanada Highway that Mooses tend to frequent..it's their habitual trail crossing. It has been said that about 660 highway Moose incidents have occured last year so for this area....

For 2 km.. sensors are placed along the highway. The sensors are powered by sunlight/solar panels.....

Should a Moose cross... the sensors will set off an alarm where the lights will flash at the sign, warning motorists to be observand and let the Moose cross. Great innovation..not perfect, but at least saves lifes of man and animal.

Corner Brock is known as a great ski area in the winter. They're getting plenty of snow due to the surrounding waters moisture and cold air. More snow than the rest of NFLD and Labrador.

Our camp for the night..

cheers.... till the next installment of our La Vida loco Adventure..

Houston, I have a problem...

Again cannot load pictures nor narratives where I am: Tim Horton in Channel Port aux Basques even the Good Ship M/V Blue Puttees. She has WiFi... a bit iffy here at Sea.

Will post when we get to Sidney, Nova Scotia. All's well, sailing through a fog bank now.

cheers...

Left Corner Brock camground. There's nothing in Town, no decent restaurant, no stores, nuthin'! Not a recommended place to browse around..except

Left Corner Brock in a hurry toward Channel Port aux Basques

Ships Terminal for crossing to Nova Scotia..

Went straight to the terminal. Was told that we can either take tomorrows 0500hrs or the 1630hrs Ferry to North Sidney. 5-7 hr crossing depending on the sea state.

We chose the 0500hrs so that we would be in NS around 1200 hrs. We're told
to line up at 0200hrs... and we could actually park/sleep in line. This we did..

This gives you an idea of what was in store at sunset.

Before sunset we headed out to the lower coast...something one must see and witness: Rose Blanche Lighthouse..

cheers...

A fog bank started to roll in....

It's somewhere inside the fog...

This area has a rugged coast and is known to be a graveyard for ships of the bygone days..

cheers....

This concludes the Newfoundland report.

Arrived at the docks....slept like logs...We're now in North Sidney, NS. Ready to go for another adventure around here. It's warm..ugh!!....a bit humid. Sharon's looking for stores.

Sharon here...picked up a few dried goods at nearby Walmart (the only store in this neighborhood). Driving through many places we've been to...the pictures posted here do not do justice as one must come to see for yourselves. Every corner we turned was another beautiful scenery. Every places we've driven to tells a story....the old wooden boats, fishing & crab nets, old houses that weathered many storms and protected families and fishermen, thoughts drift out in remembrance of those who were lost at sea, laundry drying out in the summer winds, summer faunas that bring back light & joy to the tiny fishing towns and so on....joy....pure joy!!

cheers until the next episode...

good on ya guys, this looks like the trip of a lifetime and beautiful pics to boot
If you're going through the Cabot trail I would highly recommend the Meat Cove campground, you have the ideal setup for that.
If you're going by Neil's Harbor, say hi to Dr Cool for me

Hi adiablolex... currently am 15 km from Meat Cove. Will stop at Neils Harbour on my way back down. Am staying with friends at South Harbor. Might hit Meat Cove tomorrow. Done the western Cabot trail before so am longing to do the most eastern trail down south: Louisburg > Halifax.

cheers...

This is how we sometimes live...when trying to post reports. It's either MaDonalds, Tim Horton, internet at the camground or Motels. Pretty hectic sometimes as not to have to many stories and pictures lined up..

On to Cape Breton Highlands...

Crossing Bras'D Or Lake...

Took this tiny ferry at EnglishTown..

Sharon stopped there to browse for some pottery..

After purchasing something $$$ he plays the violin to cease your sorrow

cheers...

Five years ago I used to stop here for a lunch break....how time flies!

I am on a chowder hunt... this one sucks, sorry... too many potatoes! Twillingate's chowder was still the best, bar none. There's another one at Esquire in Halifax. We'll see which one wins!

Although they were good..but rather small. Newfoundlander Mussels were the best....''

On to South Harbor, NS to meet some friends. Sharon knew a student at Gallaudet University and whose parents reside here. Kelly suggested that we visit them and give cheers. She'll be here the first week of August.

Entrance to their lovely place on the lake..

Genuine fresh Mackerel out of the local waters here and served Nova Scotia style..

Garnished with curried cucumber, couliflower, onions, etc..

Looking out of the window after dinner..

On to Meat Cove today for another overnight camping in the high altitudes. Hope it isn't too windy, cold... It has been written that a German couple in a VW Bus was blown off that cliff in very high winds. Was rescued by the locals while the bus sank....

cheers...
