Aprilla SR50 anyone have one? Like it, hate it?

Hey folks,

Looking at picking up a used 2007 with 3500kms on it. Owner has it de-restricted with a new exhaust on it. Seems like a nice runabout scoot. Looking for other owners opinions.

I'm trading my XR250R for it, so my wife and I can share it. Be nice to have something small and simple for around town instead of taking out the big Strom.

I always considered the SR50 to be the best 49cc scooter in the world. I had an '01 SR50 Ditech as my first real 2-wheeler, and it never let me down. Not to mention fast. Get it.

If I had money to burn, Id buy three or four of them.
That, and the Kymco Super 9 water cooled, are on my must-have list.

I know, a lot of help, right?

The 2007 SR50 Ditech is a fuel injected scooter so I don't know how much de-restricting he actually did but it can't be much. They are pretty good fun but they're still slow (it's only a 50cc). The better ones are the older carburated ones. You can make them go really fast (trading some reliability in the process). There was also a 70cc Malossi kit that was available for the carburated SR50.

I rode an SR125 (2 stroke) about 10 years ago and that thing was crazy fun!

The previous owner sent the ECU away for a remap which supposedly really wakes the engine up. He said before the remap, it would top out around 50kph, now almost 85kph.

I know what mod you are talking about now. Not sure it will do 85kph. Might be closer to 75. Just try it and let us know.

If nothing more, it's a really good looking ride.

Good luck with it!

Ya your right 75 kph was my max speed tonight. My wife should be able 80, she's 65lbs lighter. Awesome little ride though, real head turner, especially with the pipe
