I always knew these guys were tough, but the confirmation comes when you see that they pre-run Baja without grips just to get their hands in rally shape.

I searched for his name on http://www.dakardantan.com .... Can it be that his name is PIERRE instead of PATRICK???

Make your dream come true! A Dakar replica of Peterhansel bike!

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=320346946472

By the way I just bumped into it, no knowledge of the seller, etc.

Just thought that it would fit in this thread

Does anyone here have any additional information on this bike? I have a WR450F and am liking this tank/fairing combo much more than the typical fairing found on the Dakar prepped WR's. I've been looking at just fabricating my own... probably look pretty similar to this one above... any more pictures or info would be awesome!

Take a look at this site: http://offroadsite.com/
There, go to "Galeria" then "Fotos Yamaha 490 Rally"

Their rider, José Manuel Pellicer, has used that bike on several occasions. Get in contact with them, and they'll probably be able to get you more info!

It looks as though the entire rear subframe is replaced by a secondary fuel tank, much like the KTM 690's...

Cool video of Simon Pavey explaining the navigation and other setup on his BMW rally bike posted down in the basement:

Hi Schattat,

I sent an email off to info@offroadsite.com and got the following reply:

"Hi Lee,

We ran with this bike last year. The email of the designer is: velayos70@yahoo.es

Ask for Jorge Velayos.

Best Regards,
Juan F. Juan"

After a quick Google search for "Jorge Velayos" I found his web site:

www.jvo-racing.com

Looks like he sells a complete kit for 6,000EUR as well as individual parts to make the WR450F into a proper Rally bike, although the kit looks like it's designed for the newer aluminum frame from 2007+

I think your dad was running a 2005 or 2006 correct? I've got a 2006 but would definitely upgrade to use this kit. It looks the business, that's for sure.

I have sent an email off and look forward to a reply from them. Will let you know what I find out!
