Gotta go with the van. Mine's a 1977 Dodge B-200 that was a $500 Craigslist score. I added the Dodge police wheels, and swapped out the 2-bbl OE Holley carb and cast iron intake that came on the 360 for an Edelbrock Performer intake and a Thermoquad that was originally on one of my 340's. The mileage jumped from the dismal 8-9mpg to a more respectable 12-14mpg with the 4-barrel installed. With no windows it makes it harder for Undesirables to see what you have. It also earned it the nickname "The Abductor", but that's another story.

just my 2 cents.
That's what my family and I did last event we went to. Was great fun, camping and trials. Not sure I could have much more fun than that. Just the way our family likes it. :)

Been out of town for a few days so I'm playing catch up. Thanks for all the input & ideas.

I hate trailers, & I don't have a place to keep one without paying storage.

Camping? Fine if you don't need any rest. Not for me if I'm competing.

So I've started looking at full size vans. Astro & their ilk just don't have the room I desire, & if their mileage sucks that bad, I may as well go full size. I looked at a pristine 2011 E-350 XLT today. At 20K it's priced right, but I don't need a 350. I'm thinking an E-250 would be plenty, & at a better price as well. I'm also open to a conversion van since they have nice amenities already built in. I can just ditch the big ass sofa in back for bike & gear room. And so the search is on.

Just another note on the conversion van. I left one captains chair in the back and still can get two bikes inside. I also can throw one on the hitch if needed.

Seems the late model E-250's are all cargo vans. No good as I'm not in the mindset of building out a van from scratch. Helped my parents with their Maxi-van back in the seventies & still remember how much fun it wasn't.

A quick search on Auto Trader turned this up. Not extended, but I don't think I need Ext. It's even Roll Tide Red.

One thing to watch for in 3/4 and above vans is they are very popular with contractors and often get abused and driven by many different people who don't give a chit in it's life. A nice clean 3/4 or 1 ton is tough to find... beware of units that have been "reconditioned" at dealers, a private owner is usually the best bet on these types of vehicles at least you get an honest look at the vehicle before it has been made "Sale Ready" by a pro who knows how to shine a turd.

Actually that looks great! I had a chevy with about the same lay out. I could leave the first bench seat in and still fit three bikes inside. You could always black out the windows.
