First day at Lords looks to have set up another intriguing test.
Random thoughts...
Great to see leg spin!
Fantastic captaincy pup!
Another top innings for Ian Bell.
Have we got enough runs? (not yet...)
I think we'll get the ball to reverse better than Australia managed.
I am loving this series already.

55 for 3 as I type.

I'm not prepared to commit to how this will pan-out until the Aussie first innings is over. We've seen the tail do the wagging a lot so far.

One thing is for certain, the Aussies are crap at using their reviews.

England NOT enforcing the follow on

Not sure I understand that - the Aussies heads are down, why not go for the jugular ?

The collapse of the Aussie batsmen doesn't fill me with joy. I want to see England win the series and a five-nil score would be really good but I've never enjoyed seeing any Test team fail so badly.

My guess is that the conditions are such that enforcing the follow-on runs a risk of exhausting the bowlers and letting the Aussies back into the game. Plus the wicket will probably be even better for England's bowlers as it ages.

This way, with three days left, England can declare and have plenty of time to skittle the Aussies over by using the last two days if necessary (better for the paying public too).

Wow, 128 all out. My brief but intense viewing of cricket was in the early and mid-70's. That was a period of Australian dominance and intimidation of England, with the likes of Dennis Lillee. To see Australia this poor is shocking.

The new generation are not the men who forged a nation out of dust and flies. No, this generation are fat on BBQ and beer, and spend more time in the hair salon than in the nets.

I say that as an Englishman of course

Carnage!
Australia have to find some fight this afternoon, even in a loosing cause.

Its just not as much fun beating a demoralized team.
I'd still like a (big) series win, but if its 5 Trent Bridge type tests then all the better.

I totally disagree. There is nothing better in cricket than to whup the convicts and I could care less how good/bad they are, it still feels bloody fantastic

Haha! I know what you mean.
I was in Australia for the 5-0 whooping we took in 2005/6. Took a fair amount of stick at the MCG.
Part of me feels like you do, but I do just love a good sporting battle.
Like the Lions tour!

I was at the MCG for that.
Joined the Barmy Army at the Pub after the eventual defeat.
What a hangover..

Oh, and it's Stuart. Don't want those pesky Jocks thinking the future King is one of them!
