You may or may not know. This bolts straight in. This is what AVA motorcycles have done. if mine blows up, this is way I will be heading.

I have to say, I am highly surprised. Now that the engine has loosened up a lot. The bike is great ball fun to ride.

This week should arrive. Braided front brake hose, Michelin pilot sporty tires, stiffen the front suspension to match the piggy back shocks.

Having some stickers made for the tank.

Slowly been tinkering away. Replaced the standard indicators with some fake carbon LED indicators.



I am replacing the Chinese no name tires with some that are lot more sticky.



Who stole the tire? The standard tires had a very soft sidewalls

Good choice in tyres loved the performance of them on my 125 Supermoto they handled 20bhp with ease unlike some 125 designed tyres and the grip in the wet was more than welcome compared to the previous Sava tyres.

I hope so. The Yuanxing tires were ok in straight line

Finished spooning on the tires. The rear end is starting to look good with piggy back shocks, Led indicators and new rubber

they do take abit to bed in It was literally like I had sponges for brakes but once bed in she was just perfect on the tyres, running bridgestones on my current bike might try michelin again in the future.

A break in the weather an 120 km (75mile) ride to check things out. The new tires make the bike a lot more stable over 80 kph. Had a bit of a race with another ACE for 30 km or so through twisty roads. There is not much between them.

I have not posted much of late. Only been doing the little things. Having a braided brake hose made up. Fitted rear sets and replaced the crappy rubber strap on the tank with some checkers.

Its coming along well.

The checks look pretty neat too. Do they go over the rear hump too?

I emailed the guys from AVA and they use a Lonchin 250 in theres.

I still think it would be as crazy as a barrel of monkeys with an RS250 stuffed in it

I would really like to fit a two stroke or even a 600 single. The hard part is just sourcing an engine, any engine. I am sure an xr250 engine would slot right in, but any Honda engine is thin on the ground around here.

Laugh Valve clearances

Hi Dan,

What valve clearances did you use as mine sounds like they need doing and I've got conflicting info - the manual states both inlet & exhaust at 0.05mm (0.002") but talking to the UK importer, they say 0.010" thou - Interested to know!

Did a marathon trip last week - 360 miles over 2 days. It's a long way on the ace as the combination of the seat & clip on's necessitate a tea break at least once an hour!

I set mine to owners manual spec of a very tiny .002". When I checked mine there was less than spec. Setting at .010" won't do any damage, might make them rattle a bit.

The only thing, I am going to do is quickly check them every 500km to see if they close up.

The front brakes are quite spongy on my bike. Others don't seem to have a problem. I have bleed them several times, but seems to be a leak somewhere. They will pump up and be ok. In the morning the lever almost goes back into the bars again.

I ripped off the rubber brake hose and trotted off to my local cablemate dealer to have them build me a braided brake hose. They did a top job.

New hose.
